Disliked:There was construction happening the entire time of my staff. It was awful. Extremely loud. The hotel never disclosed this before booking. Ruined the entire weekend. I would not recommend coming back just based off that

Liked:The property itself is truly beautiful, in line with the environment, and so are the surroundings of mangroves and lush tropical vegetation. The food at all the restaurants is exceptional - but mind you - so are the prices. The staff are absolutely wonderful - polite, friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. They will go out of their way to help with whatever needs or issues you may have. I have to single out two names, The Chief Concierge Rodrigo, and the lovely Fernanda. Excellence is not a good enough word to describe either of them - their professionalism and care exceed the limits of the word.

Disliked:The beach is, sadly, not an asset to the property. The water is very dark and uninviting due to a large amount of seagrass on the bottom. Seaweed is also present. In addition to this, there’s a lot of construction right next to the Nizuc - a huge Ritz Carlton is being built there and they are known for extremely poor environmental practices. Not a good neighbour for the Nizuc.

Liked:Structure and aesthetics: The hotel is truly beautiful, luxurious, and of a high standard. Everything is well-maintained and extremely "Instagrammable," with impeccable architecture and ambiance. Punctual service (some teams): A positive highlight goes to the housekeepers, the A-Kan Bar team, and the shuttle cart staff, all very kind, polite, and helpful, with a demeanor much more in line with the expected standard of a hotel of this level.

Disliked:Reception Service (main issue): The reception service was extremely disappointing. The staff showed a somewhat arrogant attitude, lacked empathy, and demonstrated little interest in resolving issues caused by the hotel itself. Summary of what happened: At check-in, we were not properly informed about the need to leave a deposit. When I asked if we could settle everything at the end of the stay using debit (to avoid fees), I was told yes. However, at dinner, we were unexpectedly required to pay immediately. Since it was already late at night in Brazil, we couldn’t make transfers and were forced to pay by credit card, incurring high fees. Later, the reception told us it would be possible to reverse the charge and adjust the payment method — but the next day they changed their position and said it was no longer possible. This lack of consistency, transparency, and problem-solving significantly impacted our experience right from the first day. Gastronomy far below expectations: For a hotel of this standard and price, the food was a major disappointment. Steakhouse: flavorless meat, overcooked rice, and a very average mashed potato. (very expensive for what it delivers) Italian restaurant: risotto that resembled a soup, far below expectations. (we complained to the waiter, but only received apologies, which doesn’t solve the issue) Breakfast: only good on Sunday; on the other days, it did not seem to maintain the same standard. Only positive point: the burger at Bar A-Kan. We came from hotels like Nômade in Holbox with a much better dining experience, which makes it even harder to understand the level delivered by Nizuc. Excessive and inconsistent charges at breakfast (which is included in the rate): Being charged for a cappuccino and a latte within the resort was completely out of standard.
