Great renovated rooms, but delayed check-in

Liked:We had to wait until after the 3:00 p.m. check-in time because our room was still not ready. Of course, 15 minutes is not a long time in itself, but we had already arrived at 2:00 p.m., completed the check-in process, and waited patiently for the room to be prepared. What was disappointing was the way the situation was handled. Even after 3:00 p.m., the staff kept telling us, “Just five more minutes,” and then “another ten minutes,” and eventually even told us “pazienza.” All the other guests who had arrived around 2:00 p.m. had already checked in and gone to their rooms, while we were left alone in the lobby still waiting. A more attentive and professional approach from the staff would have made a significant difference. On a positive note, the room itself had been renovated and was modern, clean, and comfortable. However, there was water leaking out from the shower onto the bathroom floor, which was too much trouble to report again, so we ended up wiping it up ourselves. Overall, we were disappointed, particularly by the way the delayed check-in was handled. We expected a higher level of service and guest care from a four-star hotel with such a long history and reputation.
