Liked:The pools Nice room terrace Good location near beach and supermarket The girls at the counter are great
Disliked:No mosqito net Coordination between booking and the hotel regarding check in time We had to wait 4 hours for our room Booking said check in at 1.00 pm The room was given at 5.00 pm The whole "eco" thing is not true, i think they use it to save water and to have your room cleaned every 3 days to pay less to their employees.

Good first impression, but downhill from there

Liked:We were pleasantly surprised at first: the resort looks beautiful, with the wooden walkways, lots of nature, and lovely swimming pools. However, when we were allowed into our room, we were quite disappointed. The bedroom has no connection to the outdoors at all. The room smelled damp and musty, and I was bitten by mosquitoes within no time. You could rent a mosquito net for an extra €5 per night (it was very small and had holes in it). We tried several times to get another room, but unfortunately this was not possible. Breakfast was a disaster: the buffet is set up in a small room where too many people are crowded together trying to serve themselves, and you had to wait a long time for a cup of coffee (there was only one very slow machine, and the coffee didn’t even taste good). Often there was only one staff member on duty who was (understandably) not happy with all the crowds and questions from guests. You can access the beach using a beach pass. The sunbeds are packed tightly together in rows, often without any shade. At some point we disliked going back to the resort so much that we checked out three days early to rent a room somewhere else on the island. Definitely not recommended from our point of view!

Morena Resort is a Natural Haven

Liked:To be honest I was slightly nervous about booking with Morena after having read some of the criticisms I saw here on TripAdvisor. But like online reviews go, one should take everything with a grain of salt. I am back home now reminiscing about my daily morning walks through Morena's beautiful garden paths and pining away at the pleasure moments I had there. This resort is impeccably clean; is surrounded by lush gardens, fragrant flowers, and beautiful birds chirping and whom welcome you to this natural haven. The hotel is eco-friendly and this is a know-before you go experience. No A/C in the kitchen and living room is something you need to be aware of. So it is a camp-style experience as far as that is concerned, and know that this is what you are signing up for. Improvements could be done in terms of mosquito netting for the dining rooms and providing more towels in their bathrooms. The staff were some of the friendliest I have met at any hotel I have been to, and their Fuego restaurant had the best food on the island we experienced. Truly delicious to try even if you went just for that! I truly love this resort and would be very happy to come back to this place any time! Thank you Morena for a great Curacao experience, you did not disappoint!

Good Eco-Resort

Liked:We enjoyed our stay at the Morena Resort. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and fairly spacious. The restaurants had good food and most of the waiters were very friendly. It was great having a choice of three swimming pools. They use salt water instead of chemicals, which makes the swim more pleasant. There are plenty of trees and the birds are plentiful, including some green parrots. The only negatives were that besides the nearby beach that has around 7 restaurants and a few shops, the location is far away from any other activities, requiring taxi rides to anywhere else you want to go, although this did keep the beach from being overcrowded. Additionally, they only have soap in the shower room, not any in the bathroom (bathroom is separate from the showers), so you have to buy your own soap at the nearby grocery store. The beds were a bit odd. Each bedroom had two slim mattresses put together to make an almost queen-sized bed, but each night the mattresses spread apart, and I always ended up between them directly on the support part -- which wasn't too uncomfortable, just annoying.
