Beautiful hotel and AMAZING staff.

Liked:Warm staff absolutely wonderful experience in every way. From the valets to the check in team to the experience team to the servers everyone is on the same mission to give guests the best experience possible. Warmth and caring from the entire staff from beginning to end. Beautiful renovated rooms. We had a great time. Highly reccomend.

Still Perfection

Liked:Still perfection. And I realize that the adult pool is hard to get a chair at, but there are so many other chairs/cabanas/views available that it is not a big issue. The food and personnel are excellent and well within luxury hotel standards. This was our twenty-first stay there in the last thirty years, and we cannot wait until we have time to stay there again. Truly beautiful and outstanding hotel.

Not the luxury experience that you expect (and pay for)

Liked:Disappointed in my recent stay. I assume that most people, like me, come to this hotel with the primary intent of luxury relaxation at the pool/beach. This was impossible to achieve. The waterfall pool and main pool have the vibe of a Six Flags waterpark, packed with roaring fountains and screaming kids throwing balls. Yes, they have an adults-only pool which would seem to be the answer… However, there is very limited seating at the adult pool. So you are essentially required to arrive 15 minutes prior to opening at 7am and wait in line to get one of the chairs (and then be forbidden from leaving your chair the entire day lest they give it away). The other option is to show up later, put your name on a waitlist, then wait in the hotel lobby for 1-2 hours until a chair becomes available. Not to mention that the adult pool is mostly positioned between 2 buildings with no view (similar to a mid-range apartment building pool in suburban LA -why did I spend all the money to come here??) There are only a few chairs on the front end that actually overlook a view so that you realize you are in Hawaii. There is a simple solution to this…. The hotel has maybe 20 “sanctuary” cabanas that are beautiful and overlook the ocean. These are available for rent for many thousands of dollars per day, and sat completely unused all day long because of the exorbitant upcharge. The resort states that any of these that go “unreserved” could be used by hotel guests, but this is a blatant public relations lie — all of them had “reserved” signs, yet I never saw a single person enter any of them during my stay. Shame on Four Seasons for not pricing these more reasonably or making them available to others when unused (haven’t we already paid a lot just to stay at this hotel?). Meanwhile, I spent hours of my beach vacation in the hotel lobby waiting for a mediocre non-view adult pool chair to become available while these beautiful chairs sat empty. There are 2 positives about the hotel: 1) food at dinner at Ferraros and Komo were both excellent. 2) complimentary outrigger canoe excursion was awesome (one of the few things that gave me a little pop of unexpected “wow” that should occur when you pay for top level luxury hotel) My overall advice would be to stay at a different hotel in Wailea, and walk here for dinner at night.
