Liked:The property presents as stylish and unique with amazing views from the rooftop and sea view rooms. Its attached restaurant ‘Apulia’ has well varied menu, with very generous portion sizes. The food for breakfast, lunch and dinner were all equally as delicious and high quality. Each meal’s experience tastes like high-end restaurant standard with excellent, attentive service throughout. The restaurant was definitely a standout part of the hotel. The hotel was generally clean and tidy and the customer service from reception staff was very good. They were kind enough to package up a takeaway breakfast for an early morning start on one of the days during our stay. Our room was spacious and clean and the addition of rose petals on the bed upon arrival was a nice touch. There was plenty of room for luggage and clothing. The balcony was clean and boasted stunning views again. The rooftop pool bar and sundeck was also a great place to enjoy a drink with stunning views of St Paul’s Bay and comfortable sun loungers. The swim up bar was also well attended with a varied cocktail menu of classics and signatures. The Dragon’s Dream was a personal favourite of ours.

Disliked:After spending more time in the hotel we began to notice a few things about the building itself. Despite its stylish appearance, the maintenance of the hotel fabric lacks quality. One of the pool lights was hanging around in the water, right next to the step to get in the water. One of the pool loungers was out of use due to damage and there were a number of general ‘wear and tare’ points that (in my opinion) should have been sorted as soon as possible given the star rating of this hotel. As for the room. Upon entry, the floor we were staying on was having rooms renovated. This meant that there was construction noise audible from inside our room and on our first day we had strong smells of smoking, which was annoying considering there is a €300 fine for guests if caught smoking inside the hotel as any point. We did inform the staff and this seemed to improve. The room was not very soundproof at all. We could hear footsteps from the floor above us and people conversing in the rooms next to us. Our balcony was on the border line from being not private at all. Only a thin piece of glass separated each balcony with gaps all around. I had also booked a premium hot tub room with the impression that it was going to be a very exclusive and private place to stay. This was also not the case, when sat in the hot tub, you could easily see into neighbouring rooms and this did seem to takeaway from the experience a little. The hot tub was also cold (which didn’t matter too much in a hot country), and had the temperature setting locked on the set temperature. I realise this is to maintain the hotel’s eco sustainability, but would have been nice to be able to tailor the water temperature to our liking. The room itself, although stylish and uniquely decorated, has various damage marks that had been patched up poorly and looked rushed. The A/C vent was corroded and took a long time to cool the room down.

Liked:The lady that checked us in was so lovely, she even remembered our room number at breakfast. Also breakfast was awesome with a beautiful view over the water. The rooftop pool was lovely with a swim up bar. Staff were friendly
