Great views, not a great location

Liked:I loved the set up of this place, it's something of an adventure, lots of differently interconnected buildings along the lake. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, and staff was very friendly and helpful. The views are of course, stunning.

Disliked:The location is not great, and I must have missed any reviews that discussed it. It's about two miles down a dirt road with almost no ability to turn around. The hostel's free parking was full by the time I got there and I had to pay for parking. I also got a flat tire. If you are driving, I do not recommend this location. If you're taking buses, maybe it would be better.

Liked:The location is great, right on the lake and the facilities were clean. The guy at the reception was very friendly and helpful (plus spoke good english)

Disliked:The hostel: This place has a lot of potential, but unfortunately is poorly managed. Everything looks a little run down and not well maintained. There are not typical things you would usually find at a hostel - no activities, no trips, limited recommendations. Music can be loud at times, especially on Saturdays apparently. Bar is supposedly open until midnight but loud music went on until 2am. The restaurant: We only had our breakfasts there because there is not much around. Food was okay, but overall service is not great. Additional point: on the outdated blackboard the hostel is recommending a shuttle service which we planned to use to go to El Zonte. The price we negotiated was very fair but the shuttle simply didn't show up. After an hour waiting, we called an Uber which was much more expensive. Not the hostel's fault but reflects their poor management as it is a recommended service.
