Hotels with EV charging and verified sustainability credentials in San Francisco

Four of the five hotels have EV charging within their own parking structures. The Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco at Embarcadero uses a third-party garage operated by SP+ at 222 Sansome St, approximately a 1-minute walk from the hotel entrance. That garage includes Level 2 charging stations. Call the hotel before arrival to confirm charger availability and any reservation requirements.

LEED Gold is a certification from the US Green Building Council awarded to buildings that meet specific performance thresholds across energy efficiency, water use, indoor air quality, and materials sourcing. For a hotel, it means the building itself was designed and operates to a verified standard, not just that the brand has a green policy. The certification is tied to the specific address and is publicly searchable in the USGBC project database.

Tier 1 hotels hold a named third-party certification such as LEED, Green Key, or Energy Star. An independent auditor verified the performance data before the certification was issued. Tier 2 hotels have published sustainability reports with specific measurable numbers, such as a documented percentage reduction in energy or water use, but have not obtained a named external certification. Both tiers require real, verifiable evidence. Hotels with only a brand-level sustainability mission statement did not qualify for either tier.

Charging fees vary by property. Most hotels in San Francisco charge a fee for EV charging, either as part of a parking rate or as a separate per-hour or per-session charge. Contact the hotel directly before arrival to get the current rate and to confirm whether you need to reserve a charging spot, particularly during busy periods.

All five hotels are within a short walk of a Muni Metro or BART station. The 1 Hotel San Francisco and Four Seasons at Embarcadero are both about 4 to 5 minutes from the Embarcadero BART and Muni station. The three SoMa properties (InterContinental, Marriott Marquis, and Hyatt Regency Downtown SOMA) are all within 4 to 7 minutes of Powell Street station, which serves BART and multiple Muni Metro lines.
