Bad Food, Overpriced, Loud w Kids

Liked:The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean. The grounds were kept up well. Staff were friendly. The buildings are cute.
Disliked:The beach is quite thin in this area. This is not a relaxing hotel, I would never recommend it to a couple. The kids are very loud and everyone wakes you up at 7am in the hallways. This is not a good value either as the food was really terrible. We didn’t pay for the all inclusive but if you’re going to pay $600 a night for all inclusive, you might as well spend another $150 a night and stay at Xcaret (there’s a kid friendly and adults only) and have good food. We did the $300 night that per booking came with a $50 credit but we had to fight to have the credit applied showing our booking on the app repeatedly and then they only did a 20% discount/it came out to a $30 credit. Dinner for 1 night was almost $150 and it was inedible. If you don’t pay for all inclusive there is nothing around unless you want to pay an overpriced taxi rate (there’s no negotiating if the hotel calls it so expect $25 to go 7-10 min) away. I much prefer staying in places like Isla where you can enjoy food outside of the hotel but we had to book 1 night here before we moved to a work trip resort which was $850/night adults only and had delicious food and grounds but a hard bed. I am very grateful for the comfortable bed.

Nice hotel but with some nuances to know

Liked:The territory was nice, green and clean. Rooms are well designed so you can fit all luggage for 4 people nicely. The kids club was super good, my daughter wanted to stay all the time and was having fun, the programme for kids was very well thought. Having a carousel nearby was also a nice surprise for families with kids. Lots of swimming pools, the water was really warm in combination with extremely friendly staff that what we liked. Hammock in the room was a great addition!
Disliked:First, tips system. We felt under pressure to leave tips although we were all-inclusive. Even in a buffet when you serve yourself you still need to sign the bill and supposed to leave tips. It was quite an addition to the cost of our stay. It might be a common thing in Mexico, but we didn't expect this. Secondly, the timeshare programme where again you are under pressure to take part in. The moment we arrived, we were tired and hungry but we had to listen to this promo and needed to commit we will take part. The only thing we wanted was to rest, but not being attacked with numbers, discounts, programme benefits, etc. The next morning they woke us up at 7.30am saying we needed to go, but we changed our mind and felt that we did something terribly wrong as already committed to this. It shouldn't happen and I understand that staff bonuses probably depend on the number of people they convinced to take part in the programme but still I am on holidays and want to rest. And if I change my mind and want to sleep and have my breakfast later it should be totally fine. Thirdly, sunbeds by the pool. You never can find free sunbeds, they are all occupied. We were kicked out once from sunbeds because they were 'reserved' for someone else. To be fair, personnel still helped us to find other sunbeds but they were further away from the pool. I guess you need to have an agreement with the staff and tip them to have nice sunbeds, but not sure how people were getting them. And finally, I didn't like the queues for breakfast and the booking system for dinners as spaces were never available. So we had to come and find a table on the go, maybe wait for 15-20 mins and be in a non-peak time also. The fact that you don't have access to food whenever you want is also a disappointment. For example, you cannot find bananas or apples for your kid during the day. You can only visit a restaurant and order by the menu.

Can’t wait to go back.

Liked:The rooms were so clean and spacious. The whole resort was beautiful.
Disliked:The property was great. Sure from the front of the hotel facing away from the resort wasn’t the prettiest, but honestly, I only saw that when I was walking to my room from the elevators it really wasn’t that big of a deal. Even with construction going on
