Amazing family programmes and thematic nights

Liked:Great family Resort with amazing kids activities and programmes! Loved the thematic food nights in the garden 🌟 excellent organizing! The water park is a great addition, but cold pools unfortunately!
Disliked:Buffet is slow as you have to wait for the servers/chefs to hand you the things you choose. Kinda missing the buffet feeling as you stand in lines to get the things served on your plate... Pools are cold except for the hot tubs 😪 The beach is kinda dull, missing more shade/ umbrellas. The ocean and sand smelt like sewage when we played in the sand with my kids.

Family Stay at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana - Great Service, Some Misses

Liked:We recently stayed at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana over the holidays as a family of five and had an overall good experience, with some standout positives and a few frustrating drawbacks. Pros: • Service: The staff is attentive and responsive. Any issue we brought up was addressed quickly, which we appreciated. • Breakfast Buffet: One of the highlights. varied, fresh, and well-executed. • Kids Club: Huge win for us. The staff is warm, the activities are engaging, and they even feed the kids lunch and dinner. Our kids loved going. • Water Park: A major hit! The kids had a blast and the food served there was surprisingly decent. • Kids’ Drinks: They loved being able to swim up to the bar and order their own (non-alcoholic) drinks—it made them feel special. • Nighttime Shows: High-energy and fun for the whole family. • Tempest (Hibachi Restaurant): Excellent—one of the best meals we had on-site. • Ambiance/Layout: Spacious, upscale feel without being over the top. The resort is beautifully laid out. • Beach: Gorgeous and expansive. The stretch from the hotel to the water is long, clean, and scenic. • Gym: Truly top-notch - best we’ve seen at any resort. • Themed Nights: Added variety and atmosphere with dinners and entertainment outdoors. Cons: • Housekeeping: Rooms weren’t cleaned thoroughly—floors often felt dirty underfoot. Toiletries were sometimes empty or broken and not replaced. On multiple days, housekeeping service was either completely missed or arrived very late (as late as 5 PM), despite the expectation of both cleaning and turndown service. • Food (Overall): This was our biggest letdown. Chinola was underwhelming across all meals. Lunch options lacked variety and quality. Pizza was consistently undercooked and doughy, even when we asked for it well done. • Drinks: Mixed drinks were just OK. Not much consistency or flair. • Towels: Always short on bath towels, and the ones we had were stiff and scratchy. • Pools: Not heated, which made them too cold to enjoy during our NYE stay. • Room Maintenance: Low water pressure in the shower, and bathroom lights were unreliable. • Anniversary Miss: We received an email promising a small anniversary gesture (banner, dessert, wine) but nothing was ever done or acknowledged. Not a big deal, but if you’re not going to follow through, it’s better not to offer. • Communication: Lots of miscommunication around what’s happening when and where. Staff didn’t always have accurate info. • General Maintenance: Some areas need attention (e.g., water leaking from the ceiling in the club-level women’s bathroom). ⸻ Final Thoughts: We had a good time overall, and the service, amenities for kids, and general resort atmosphere were strong. That said, the food and maintenance issues made it feel a notch below the level it aims to be at. We came in with really high expectations based on glowing reviews and personal recommendations, so some of the shortcomings were more noticeable as a result. With some improvements, it could easily be a top-tier family resort. Would consider returning, but probably not over a peak holiday period unless we hear they’ve made some upgrades in key areas.
