Right in the heart of everything

Liked:The hotel's location is ideal, placing you right in the heart of everything with effortless access to the beach. Both the restaurant and the rooms offer breathtaking, stunning views. Inside, the rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with great facilities and cozy beds. While the drinks are average, the food is excellent, and the staff are consistently helpful. Staying on a Friday night is highly recommended; the live music, vibrant bar atmosphere, and great food make for a memorable evening.

Disliked:Accessibility: Housed in a historic Victorian building, the hotel lacks lifts in certain areas. Luggage & Stairs: Expect multiple flights of stairs to navigate, which can be challenging if you are carrying heavy luggage or traveling with a lot of gear.

Excellent, Hard Working Staff but The Hotel Needs Attention!

Liked:We had a room with a great sea view. The room was kept clean. All the staff were helpful and polite. The breakfast was ample and well prepared.

Disliked:The sauces and mayonnaise provided were awful. Brown sauce should always be HP, the sauce provided tasted awful and was watery. We found our room a bit too small, my husband kept hurting his leg when walking between the bed and dressing table. The outside of the hotel needs some TLC. The whole edifice needs repainting. The main bar/dining area needs renovating, the tables and chairs need replacing. The Great Western is a little over priced, a new luxury hotel has opened up nearby(The Nicu) and will soon become Newquay’s premier hotel. Foreign visitors like cold meats and cheese at breakfast, I did not see any. Many of our fellow guests were German, French, Dutch and even some from the US.

Best room view ever

Liked:Location excellent lovely walk over the sands to central Newquay when tide out. Sea view in room 112 is the best I have ever had. Staff all polite and helpful. onsite pub/restaurant was great fun and food including brekki was all very tasty. Sea life centre worth a visit .

Disliked:Door on room needs adjusting annoying banging in the wind, outside of building looking very tired and sea battered needs a lick of paint .
