A neglected, rusty and poorly managed resort

Liked:The sea view from our beachfront room was beautiful and definitely the highlight of the stay. The regular staff members were also polite and courteous

Disliked:Unfortunately, almost everything else about our experience was extremely disappointing. The stay started with a serious incident during the transfer included by the property from Koh Tao pier to the hotel. The driver was driving extremely fast and recklessly with the guests’ luggage loaded onto the vehicle. Our luggage fell out of the taxi while it was moving, and a MacBook inside, worth approximately USD 2,000, was completely destroyed. We expected the hotel management to take responsibility for an incident that happened during their arranged transfer. Instead, upon arrival, the General Manager told us that essentially all he could provide was a letter describing the incident for our travel insurance. We eventually received two vouchers worth approximately USD 50 each and two massage vouchers. Considering the extent of the damage, this felt completely inadequate. More disappointing than the compensation itself, however, was the way the situation was managed. The General Manager was superficially friendly, but we found his handling of a serious incident involving guests and a hotel-arranged service remarkably ineffective and lacking in accountability. There was also another unpleasant incident on our first day. During very strong wind and a storm, one of the glass panels/doors in our room broke. The room has a largely glass structure and, in our opinion, the quality and robustness of some of the windows, doors and fittings appeared poor. Instead of simply investigating the incident, the General Manager repeatedly seemed to insinuate that we had somehow broken the glass ourselves, despite there being no evidence of this and absolutely no reason for us to have done so. He also attempted to connect this separate incident to the discussion about compensation for the laptop, which we found inappropriate. He argued that, based on which side of the glass had broken, the wind could not have been responsible.

Worth the stay for the views!

Liked:The location of the hotel might be the best on the island. Secluded, perfect views, resort feeling but still 4 minutes drive from the buzz. The staff are super helpful and nice.

Disliked:The facilities are very dated and not well-looked after. The gym is at a pretty bad state and many areas of the hotel look abandoned. Also the breakfast could be better.

Liked:Calm and peaceful area. You can hear the sounds of nature from the mountains and sea at the same time throughout your stay.

Disliked:The road from the main entrance to the lobby is steep. Starting with a slow walk, I ended up running and was about to crash into a big rock. There was no safety stop area. The existing sidewalk ladder needs maintenance or should be improved.

Disappointed with the staff and safety of this place.

Liked:The pool area was quite nice and the view from the room is EPIC, you’re looking at Koh Nang Yuan, you can take the longtail boat across for like 250baht, pretty cool Hotel is in a nice secluded and quiet area of Koh Tao. Good location.

Disliked:First night I was getting electric shocks from the shower, even touching the tap to turn it off was sending electrical shots up my hands and arms, lights flickering in the room. Staff said they checked, but nothing wrong. Didn’t change our room. Second day, came back to room turned aircon on, all lights flickering again then a loud explosion outside our room, electrical system had exploded and was actually on fire. At breakfast my lady asked for a few cubes of ice to put in a drink. Was told they didn’t have ice (they did, it was in all their juice drink jugs ) I asked again, they said no, 5 different staff, then said we can’t give you because ice is expensive on this island and the owner said no. Legit, this is a true experience. We checked out, told the manager of our ice experience(and everything else we had been through) she said sorry, we will compensate you. After a 30 min wait at checkout and waiting for “compensation” she handed me a bill for 2 bottles of water taken from the fridge (because cleaners didn’t leave any water for us that day) That was the compensation for our experience, electrical shocks, aircon on fire, refused a couple cubes of ice , Charged for 2 bottles of water!!! This place is a joke, they could have handled this so much better and I wouldn’t have left a negative review. Sometimes electrical issues happen, I understand that, it’s the way we were dealt with, and honestly the refusal of a few cubes of ice and then trying to charge me for a couple bottles of water tipped me over the edge to a negative review.
