⚠️ Beware of the Hotel Clinic: A €2,500 Bill We Never Expected

Liked:We stayed at Steigenberger Resort Ras Soma for 10 nights and had a wonderful holiday. * The hotel was beautiful, very clean, and well maintained. * The staff were polite, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. * The doctor at the clinic was kind, professional, and genuinely cared for my daughter. He provided good medical care and explained what treatment she needed. Hotel Entertainment There were quite a lot of dance shows, some of which felt a bit inappropriate. However, we really enjoyed the fire show on Saturday night and the final show before we left, the African dance show. The fire show was definitely the highlight. We also enjoyed the pool workout activities. The best part of the hotel is the beach! It is truly beautiful. There is no snorkeling there because there are no coral reefs, so it feels more like a natural swimming pool, which is still very relaxing and enjoyable. You can book tours through the hotel, but in my opinion they are quite expensive. On Booking.com you can find better prices. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to visit any islands because my daughter was sick. Restaurants There are four restaurants in the hotel that you can make reservations included in all inclusive * Asian restaurant – we didn’t enjoy it; it didn’t feel authentic Asian cuisine to us. * Lebanese restaurant – the best for us, absolutely delicious. * Italian restaurant – it was okay. * Maya Seafood Restaurant – very good. We ate many lunches at the Maya Seafood Restaurant, and really enjoyed the burgers and steak. It became our favourite restaurant. Staff A big thank you to all the staff who served us during our stay. They were kind, helpful, and made our holiday more enjoyable. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel.

Disliked:The reason I’m giving the resort 8 out of 10 and the title is because of our experience with the medical clinic. My daughter became ill after spending too much time in the sun and became dehydrated. The doctor recommended IV fluids and blood tests, which we agreed to. We expected the treatment to be expensive, but we were shocked when we received a bill for €2,500 the next day. When we asked why the cost was so high, we were told it was due to Egyptian government regulations for foreign visitors. We felt there was no transparency about the pricing before treatment. We raised our concerns with the hotel management, but they explained that the clinic is operated separately from the hotel and that they have no control over its prices. As guests, however, the clinic feels like part of the hotel experience, so this was disappointing. I was also surprised that I could not find any reviews warning guests about these potential medical costs. If European travel insurance accepts these charges, as the hotel management explained, it would make more sense for insurance companies to settle the bill directly with the clinic instead of requiring guests to pay such a large amount upfront. To put the cost into perspective, I spoke with a couple from Turkey, and the wife had exactly the same condition as my daughter dehydration and heat exhaustion from too much sun. They told me they paid just €30 for her treatment. That comparison makes the difference impossible to ignore: €30 versus €2,500 for the same type of care. It is exactly why we felt the bill we received was excessive, shocking, and completely unfair. The weather is extremely hot, so stay hydrated and avoid spending long periods in direct sunlight, especially if you’re not used to the climate. I also recommend bringing a small travel medical kit with oral rehydration salts, medicine for vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and stomach upset.

Exceptional wedding anniversary at Steigenberger Resort Ras Soma!

Liked:Truly exceptional experience – felt like home! We had an absolutely amazing stay at Steigenberger Resort Ras Soma. The hotel is way beyond excellent in every single detail! ▪ Service & Staff: Outstanding hospitality! The staff is highly trained, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to guest satisfaction and comfort. Everything from room cleanliness to the welcoming atmosphere was top-notch. ▪ The food and restaurants are of the highest quality—exceptionally clean, diverse, and deliciously prepared. ▪ Special Mention: A special thanks to Mr. Ahmed, the Reception Manager. He was extremely polite, helpful, and went above and beyond to assist us. He made us feel like we were at our own home, not just hotel guests. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a luxury and hassle-free vacation. We will definitely be coming back!

Excellent vacation

Liked:We really enjoyed our stay at Steigenberger. You could find anything you needed in the resort: pools, beach, tennis, massage, restaurants etc. The staff were very professional and kind, the rooms were always clean! What we particularly liked about the food, was that there was always a buffet option, but also you could make reservations at different restaurants: Arabesque, Asian, Seafood and Italian. 🍤 The gym is well equipped and there is a tennis and padel court, with available instructor! 🎾

Disliked:We very much liked everything, but if i need to point out something, would be good to have a schedule of the restaurants, because on some days they are not available. Also, i found the cocktails a little bit too sweet and syrupy. There is no coral reef on the beach, but you can book a snorkeling cruise if you want! 🤿
