AVOID

Liked:Cold, loud, unfriendly. No maid service, no food, broken elevator, two sad Pelotons. Feels like an asylum with mood lighting. Boutique in name only. Would never stay again. Sad, it had good bones. But I would avoid at all costs. Expensive and not worth it

DO NOT STAY HERE

Liked:I booked this hotel through Hotwire.com. The hotel room I was assigned did not have air conditioning. When I called to report this, a person who was eating answered the phone and told me I had to go to the front desk. When I reported this to the front desk, they came to the room and saw the air conditioning unit was broken and apologized. They said they would get me a new room. They left the room and never came back. I went back down to the front desk after waiting half an hour and was told they have no more rooms. They offered no discounts but did pull out the loudest box fan I have ever heard. They told me I could have a refund if I left, but I had nowhere else to stay. They then charged me an additional $308 without explanation. When I went to check out the next day, there was no one at the front desk and a note said "Front desk staff won't be here until 10 AM". I am disputing the charges and have lodged a complaint with Hotwire.com. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Seriously Disappointed - Avoid Chicago Hotel Collection River North at All Costs! (Echoing Previous Negative Experiences

Liked:Let me add my voice to the chorus of negative reviews – heed this warning and stay far away from the Chicago Hotel Collection River North! Unfortunately, all the prior negative feedback appears to be completely accurate, and my recent experience only confirms it. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, the staff were unwelcoming and gave off an immediate air of indifference. The check-in process quickly soured when we were informed of their mandatory resort fee and a "refundable" deposit. It's now been a week since our departure, and the deposit has yet to be refunded. To add insult to injury, we were hit with an inexplicable additional charge of $70! The advertised resort fee supposedly included six beverages per night, a perk the staff seemed determined to withhold. Despite our inquiries, we were met with resistance and never received any of the promised drinks. The state of the "clubhouse" – the supposed hub for the kitchen and game room – was frankly appalling. During our entire stay, we encountered a homeless individual sleeping on the couch within this shared space. This created an uncomfortable and frankly unsafe atmosphere. The hotel rooms themselves are in a shocking state of disrepair. Our room felt like it was actively falling apart, from a dilapidated bed to a shower that barely functioned. Forget about a peaceful night's sleep. The walls are paper thin, offering zero sound insulation. We were constantly subjected to the disruptive noise of the elevated train running directly outside our window and the loud maintenance staff starting their work early in the morning. Honestly, this hotel is an absolute rip-off and not worth a single cent of your hard-earned money. You would be far more comfortable and likely save money by staying in a hostel or even a budget motel. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. You have been warned!

No one works here

Liked:So no one works in this hotel?? My flight was delayed and by the time I got here to check in no one was at the desk or answering the phone or the emergency number the phone voicemail instructs you to text. I legitimately still haven’t checked in an hour later. Just sitting in the lobby. Pretty sure I would have better customer service sleeping in my car.
