Liked:Great location close to a subway station. I felt safe there. They provided clear instructions for the self-entry. The private room was a little dated. It was in a subsection with just two other rooms, so the shared bathroom wasn't an issue besides being very small.

Disliked:The interior layout is all scattered about and up a steep staircase.

Wasn’t able to get into the building half the time, no help. Dirty

Disliked:This was the worst place I have ever stayed. I’ve stayed in hostels before but this was horrible. The room was dirty, stains on the sheets, holes in the wall, and the bathroom door didn’t shut properly. I was in a private room with a shared bathroom/living room with one other room but the common space didn’t have a locked door so anyone could just come into our bathroom and kitchen. The cleaning lady came into our room telling us to move things and wouldn’t let us use the bathroom. They give you codes to get into the building but they never worked so I was locked out. I had to stand on the street in the pouring rain and call the help desk but no one answered so I wasn’t able to get in until later that day and this happened multiple times. I was having a slight emergency and needed something from my room and couldn’t get it. I paid almost $1,300 for two nights when it typically costs $47 a night bc of lollapalooza and I couldn’t even get into the building half of the time. Staff was rude and the whole thing was a mess. Don’t waste your money even if it is cheap bc you probably won’t be able to get into the building.

Disliked:I would not recommend this place unless you simply need the cheapest place to stay for one night. We weren’t expecting a luxury hotel for the price, but we did expect a room that felt clean and well maintained. Unfortunately, the room was in rough condition. The walls throughout the property were covered in scuff marks, stains, cracks, and chipped paint. There were water stains beneath the windows, damaged flooring, broken blinds, and the bedroom smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The bathroom had a persistent musty odor, and the air conditioner barely cooled the room. They left a small fan in the room, but it was covered in dust. Overall, the property feels neglected and in need of basic maintenance. It also looked like there had been a water leak in the room at some point. While it appeared to have been repaired, the ceiling was never properly patched or repainted, which added to the overall neglected appearance. Before our stay, they emailed us to let us know that we had been moved to a different unit because maintenance was being done on the one we had originally booked. Unfortunately, after seeing the condition of the replacement unit, it didn’t seem to be in much better shape. Another concern was security. During the night, two different groups attempted to enter our room because they couldn’t find their room number. They were likely honest mistakes, but it was still unsettling to wake up to people trying our door. The building is also extremely noisy. You can hear doors slamming, people talking, and people walking through the hallways, so if you’re a light sleeper, this probably isn’t the place for you. The listing advertised “free parking,” but we were charged $25 for on-site parking. If the free parking refers to street parking, that should be made much clearer in the listing. The paid parking space itself was extremely small and difficult to maneuver into.
