Every hotel on this list offers EV charging access and holds either a third-party sustainability certification or a published report with specific, measurable environmental results. Properties are ranked by certification tier first, then star rating. EV charging may be on-property or at a verified third-party garage within walking distance of the hotel entrance.
How we selected these hotels
Each property on this page passed two checks: confirmed EV charging access and verified sustainability credentials. For sustainability, we required either a named third-party certification from a body such as LEED, Green Key, or Energy Star, or a published sustainability report containing specific numeric results tied to this property. Brand-level mission statements and vague green commitments did not qualify.
For EV charging, we confirmed whether chargers sit on hotel property or at a nearby third-party garage. Boston winters regularly drop below 36°F from December through February, which can reduce EV range by 20 to 40 percent depending on battery chemistry. On-property or covered charging matters more here than in warmer markets, so we note the distinction for every hotel.
Hotels are ranked Tier 1 first, then Tier 2. Within each tier, higher star ratings come first, then alphabetical order by hotel name.

EV charging in Boston winters: what to know
- Boston average highs run 36°F to 40°F from December through February. Cold temperatures reduce lithium-ion battery range, so plan for a longer charge session than you would in summer.
- On-property covered parking with EV charging gives you the most predictable overnight charge. If a hotel uses a third-party garage, confirm the garage is open 24 hours before you arrive.
- Level 2 chargers (240V) are standard at most hotel garages and add roughly 20 to 30 miles of range per hour. DC fast chargers are rare at Boston hotels but available at some nearby public stations.
- The Silver Line SL1 connects South Station to the Seaport District hotels on this list and runs to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), making it a practical option if you want to leave your car charging while you travel.
Boston neighborhoods with the most verified green hotels
The Seaport District accounts for two of the five hotels on this page. Post-2010 construction in that neighborhood benefited from updated building codes and developer interest in LEED certification, which is why newer Seaport properties tend to have stronger documented credentials than older downtown stock.
Back Bay and Downtown Crossing each contribute one property. Both neighborhoods have dense transit access, which reduces the carbon footprint of a stay regardless of the hotel's own certification status. Guests at the Back Bay properties on this list can reach Copley Square, the Prudential Center, and the Green Line within a short walk.

FAQs
Common Questions
Yes. Every hotel on this list has confirmed on-property EV charging, either in a self-park garage or a valet facility attached to the hotel. None of the five require you to walk to a third-party garage. That said, you should call ahead to reserve a charging spot, particularly at the Seaport District properties, which see high occupancy during conference season.
Tier 1 means the hotel holds a named third-party certification from a body such as LEED, Green Key, EarthCheck, or Energy Star. An independent auditor verified the data. Tier 2 means the hotel has published a sustainability report with specific numeric results, such as a percentage reduction in energy or water use, but has not obtained a named third-party certification. Both tiers require real, verifiable data. Vague brand commitments did not qualify any hotel for either tier.
The Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport holds the strongest credentials on this list. It earned LEED Silver certification from the US Green Building Council at its 2021 opening, which required third-party auditing of energy, water, and materials performance. The other four hotels qualify at Tier 2 through brand-level programs with property-specific numeric data, which is meaningful but does not involve independent auditing.
Boston winters average highs of 36°F to 40°F from December through February, and lithium-ion batteries can lose 20 to 40 percent of their range in those temperatures. All five hotels on this list offer on-property charging, which means you can plug in overnight and recover range while you sleep rather than relying on a public fast charger in the cold. If you drive a vehicle with a smaller battery pack, plan for a longer charge session than you would in July, when Boston averages 78°F to 82°F.
Among the candidate hotels reviewed for this page, the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport is the only property with a confirmed LEED certification, at the Silver level. No hotel in the candidate pool holds a confirmed LEED Gold or Platinum designation with on-site EV charging. If a higher certification level is your priority, we have a separate page for eco-friendly luxury hotels in Boston that covers properties without the EV charging requirement.
Yes. The Silver Line SL1 runs from South Station through the Seaport District and continues to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). Both the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport and The Westin Boston Seaport District sit within a 5 to 7 minute walk of the World Trade Center Silver Line station. If you fly into Logan and want to leave your car at home, the SL1 gets you to either hotel without a transfer.
