A great family friendly hotel, with great food and very good value for your money, but needs updates

Liked:Staff was very polite, always ready to help, they even came to our rooms to give chocolate. - At arrival we had ammenities and wine ready for us. - The buffet was amazing, always had very good choices. They also had many different restaurants we could eat at (with previous booking). There was also amazing food throughout the day, such as kebabs, hot dogs, hamburguers, even chicken or sardines! - You even have night time activities (they were nothing very special, but the fact you have them is good enough), and, if you did not want these, literally besides the hotel was the main streets of Albufeira for you to go around and spend time.

Disliked:The two main things that were not good were: - Pools: They were decent size, however, for the amount of people, you would always feel like you could not even move on the pool. And, add salt to the wound, you would need to be at the pool at least at 08:30 AM to book your spot (before the pool even opens). And it was sad because people would put their towels in the racks and not show up for the whole day! Taking places were someone could be. - The hotel looks: I know this might be nitpicking, but, some parts of the hotel were falling down and rusted, which does not give a good look to the hotel. The staff was always cleaning the floor, which was nice, but somethings did not look good.

Not worth the price for us, cockroaches in our room was the tipping point for us to leave

Liked:I liked the Thai aesthetic and vibe of the hotel, and also the thematic speciality restaurants (although very hard to book a slot). We got complimentary water, cream crackers and a bottle of wine in our bedroom. The bed mattress was very comfortable. The room was not near the main facilities, so it was very quiet Gardens are pretty and well taken care of

Disliked:Main concern, and the one that had us leave a few days early before the checkout was we found 2 cockroaches in our room at night, 2 days in a row. Given my wife is 7 months pregnant and we have a 3 year old child we felt we couldn’t risk staying in these conditions. The hotel offered a deeper clean of the room and after some back and forth offered to move us to a room in a top floor, but we didn’t think that would solve the problem, hence we left The overall state of the hotel is a bit old and some areas look a bit degraded and needing maintenance. We stayed in the “new block”, but looks to be from the 90s Food in the buffet and the snacks was just ok and not memorable, not something to write home about. Staff were generally professional, but not super friendly and inviting Alcoholic drinks in the all-inclusive in the boat bar were mostly from a machine instead of proper bottles and mixed Pool bar closed at 5:50pm and wouldn’t serve any more drinks The nearby beach (Oura) was really not great. Crowded, paid chairs took most of the space, and just too much algae in the day we went In the end we didn’t feel the price was justified, and unsure whether the 4-star ranking is due. We switched to another hotel (last minute booking) at similar price and the experience was night and day

Excellent value for money, great quality food

Liked:Really clean, air conditioned room, excellent selection of pools, party pool and chill laid back pool, staff really nice and helpful

Disliked:People reserving sun beds early in morning and leaving for the day and the rule of no reserving sun beds not enforced at all.
