Great place we’ll be back!

Liked:Location: perfect for walking in to Stratford Rooms: we had a suite in the Coach House (80: ground floor with doors to outside terrace). The separate lounge, with double sofabed+ 2 armchairs, was used for our 8 year old. He found the bed comfortable and we were also pleased with the main bedroom and large ensuite. There was still plenty of room with 2 armchairs, table and outside table and chairs. Short walk to the restaurant, up one stairs and down another inside or through the outside terrace. All very clean and well equipped for tea and coffee. Iron and ironing board, fridge. Pool only a few minutes walk. Facilities: we used the good sized pool a lot, it has separated lanes for lane swimmers and good sized changing rooms with free lockers. We could use the disabled changing/shower room as boys 7+ can’t use the ladies’. Breakfast: plenty there. Fresh fruit was melon, plus pineapple one day, and a berry compote so a bit more variation would have been nice. Poached eggs etc are made to order. Good service and Maria in particular was excellent.

Disliked:Locals use the leisure facilities with membership and have aquarobics classes on different days. Some members were sniffy and rude about occupying ‘their’ space in the pool, which we found extraordinary as we were very happy to move around. They only used half of the space and there was room for everyone, but the music was loud and they made us feel uncomfortable about being there at all. Atmosphere: sadly lacking at reception and in the bar. On a chilly day/evening the fire could have been lit as the bar lounge was cold but staff seemed disinterested when asked about the heating. Parking: a faff having to create an online account and add the car, payment details etc to set up autopay but straightforward enough once that was done. The staff don’t seem to know much about it and simply refer you to the QR code that you need to scan.

A mixed experience, some aspects good and some very poor. The lack of heating was unacceptable

Liked:Nice room, good food in the restaurant. Excellent location.

Disliked:The hotel was cold, heating apparently not working. Most staff very poor on customer service.

Disliked:Parking - tight spaces. The payment system is awful. As I was staying in the hotel I feel they should be responsible for taking the money and not have to stand around downloading the app and having the receptionist not being very helpful. I am not tech savvy where pay machines are concerned and being disabled
