Really relaxing and comfprtable stay

Liked:Beautiful rooms lovely service friendly and professional staff,. It was my sons birthday and chocolates and card left in his room and more chocolates given and a happy birthday when we had afternoon Tea, It is becoming a family tradition to spend our sons Birthday at Billesley Manor.

Overpriced and unpleasant

Liked:Very poor and woefully overpriced hotel - and certainly not what I'd expect from a Marriott (not even its lowest collection brands). The staff were somehow simultaneously overly precious and slovenly. The breakfast was the eorst breakfast we've ever had at any hotel - let alone a Marriott. The room was like a sauna and there were so many flies that they had to put netting over the food. We only booked this hotel with our 5 yr old son so we could use the pool. We brought him excitedly down to use it mid afternoon after we checked in and managed to have our broken tv repaired only to find out that they only allow children in the pool between 8-10 am or 4:30-6:30. Anyone who knows anything about young kids would know that those are really inappropriate hours for kids. And during those hours you had to endure seething glares from other guests who clearly weren't aware of this 'family time' either and were frustrated with us for being there consisting on swimming laps across the shallow end which is where kids under 1.2m tall gravitate towards. We were locked out of room halfway through our stay despite being promised that wouldn't happen. At breakfast we were needlessly made to walk a certain way in, not allowed through a door only to Be seated right next to that door. All of these issues in isolation are not catastrophic- and may even seem petty. But the combination of all these little irritations with the apathetic and incompetent staff made our short stay infuriating and unpleasant. Big lesson learned about blindly trusting the Marriott brand. Save your money- as this hotel cost about 4-5x what it's worth.
