Not the Birthday Getaway We Expected

Liked:My husband brought me to Talking Stick Resort for my birthday weekend, and unfortunately the experience was extremely uncomfortable from the moment we arrived. Right after checking in, a security officer approached me and said I had triggered a “weapons alarm.” I was told I needed to come with her immediately for my belongings to be searched, and that if I refused, we would be asked to leave the property. This was humiliating, especially being escorted publicly to the security area. They used a wand and nothing went off. The only item in question was a decorative backdrop my husband brought to surprise me and decorate the room for my birthday. Once we showed it, we were dismissed without any real explanation. Later that same night at the Palo Verde Lounge, we noticed security standing nearby watching us closely while speaking into an earpiece, which made us feel uneasy and monitored for the remainder of the weekend. I shared this experience in a feedback email on January 5th, 2026, and received only a brief response from Kyung Yoon stating that the situation would be “shared with the team,” along with a general apology. Unfortunately, no meaningful effort was made to address what happened or attempt to rectify how deeply this impacted our stay. I understand the need for safety measures, but the lack of discretion, communication, and follow-up completely overshadowed what was meant to be a special birthday celebration. We left feeling disappointed and that our time and money were not valued.

Was defrauded by the Talking Stick Hotel

Liked:I was defrauded by this hotel. I don’t know if it was intentional or the result of incompetence. However, after booking and paying for a two-night reservation, receiving email confirmations, reminders for the trip, etc., my wife and I were told when we checked in that they were fully booked for the second night, and we in fact, did not have a room. No offer for a refund for the second night. No cooperation whatsoever. Just really dismissive customer service when they clearly made an error that ruined the scant amount of time my wife and I can get away.

Awesome!!!

Liked:I was working for my company who held a conference here. This is a great property. The sleeping rooms are large, clean and modern. The conference area is awesome….I would suggest you try to keep your meetings all on one floor if possible. The food they served our attendees was great! The banquet staff was out of this world helpful and efficient! The fact that the property is non smoking is a huge bonus!! The entire property is lovely! It is a bit isolated, so a rental car might help but Uber etc is plentiful. Plenty of restaurants on property. If you are not a golfer…no worries the golf course restaurant is fabulous as well…limited hours but good food and service and a short walk from the hotel! Can’t say enough about this lovely spot!

Beautiful resort, relaxing place to stay at.

Liked:Stayed in a King Executive with a large balcony. Really enjoyed the scenic views overlooking the golfcourse. Balcony chairs were comfortable and I liked having my morning coffee out there. Awesome selection of pools, with easy access to chaise lounge chairs. Spa was excellent, enjoyed my CBD massage, and the staff were top notch there. Also visited the Cantina bar, the chips they provide are really addictive! The casino was spacious and airy, with high ceilings, and lots of different slots to play. The machines are definitely looser than Vegas! I really enjoyed this place, and plan on returning.
