Quite Disappointing

Liked:I booked a room for our son and his wife for a "date night." They reported that the mattress on the King bed was old and soft, there were two cockroaches in the shower (one dead, one alive) and the TV was outdated in that it would not connect by blue tooth.

My 3-year old found Heroin in our bedroom!

Liked:We are extremely disappointed with our recent stay at this hotel and unfortunately cannot recommend it to families traveling with children. During our stay, my 3-year-old daughter found heroin behind the toilet in our hotel bathroom, just on the floor by the bowl. Yes, actual drugs inside the room in a small baggie. What made the situation even worse was the response from hotel management. Instead of showing concern, apologizing, or taking immediate accountability, the front desk manager became defensive and berated me for bringing the issue forward. His response was, “I don’t know what I’m looking at, I don’t do drugs,” rather than addressing the fact that a child had found narcotics inside a supposedly cleaned hotel room. We contacted local police at this point , and officers were able to identify the substance on site. This was one of the most terrifying experiences we’ve ever had while traveling. This raises serious concerns about hotel cleanliness, room inspection procedures, guest safety, and housekeeping standards. Another room in our reservation also had leftover food from previous guests, making it very clear the rooms were not being properly cleaned for between stays. While the pools and amenities may appear nice online, no luxury resort, family hotel, or vacation destination is worth risking a child’s safety. My daughter could have been seriously harmed or worse if she had ingested what she found. To make matters even more frustrating, the hotel has not provided a refund, has not properly followed up regarding the incident, and will not return our calls. If you are traveling with children and looking for a safe, clean, family-friendly hotel, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

Look around and compare before pulling the trigger.

Liked:Wife and I decided to travel 30 miles and check out the old SPR, now the Miralina. I will say the new reception area, restaurant area, added pools, ambiance, event center are truly fantastic upgrades. They removed the central courtyard and added new pools with cabanas, new restaurant (will get to that in a min,) and upgraded main restaurant. We rented a 2 story unit by a villa pool. Okay great, but no pool food or drink service, yah, not that big of a deal. We walked over to the main pool and pool bar for a bite, this is where it gets funky. Wife and split a turkey sandwich on focaccia and 2 iced teas, cool? $50 for that, we’re not at the phonecian or vegas so that was a bit sus. Tried looking up after, the pool bar menu, nowhere on line avail, okay no biggie I guess. Then we looked at the menu for the new Hecho Libre restaurant, uhhhhh no. Considering you’ve got Morton’s, roaring fork, Houston’s, fogo de Caio in the area, those $’s are listed on line and $60 for a pork chop is a bit over the top. Food costs aren’t that big of a deal as we travel to socal and Hawaii several times a year and we know what to expect and I travel for work so I know what things cost. Okay so don’t plan on eating there unless you just don’t care; now here’s where it gets really interesting… IHG purchased the peoperty, furloughed the old SPR crew during remodel then brought them back, but I was told there’s a ton of infighting amongst the 2 entities, rooms are the same, was told they will be renovated too, cool because they need it. All in all, their $’s for rooms are about the same this time of year as another independent property down Lincoln on the south side, across from the JW, if there’s not going to be a significant difference in room cost, rooms aren’t renovated yet but the food is 2x the cost, the choice is easy for me. Oh also requested early check in, $100 to check in at 11am, again, cool. But when I checked in they tried charging me again for the room even though it was paid on Wednesday so that’s not the optimal check in imo. Keep trying miralina, I know you’re in flux, I’m pulling for you.

Superb hotel , great atmosphere, lovely villas

Liked:We came to this hotel after prepaying for 4 days in a nearby property which was not to our liking . We thought the facilities at the Kimpton were great , the lovely young lady on reception, Amanda , asked the valet crew to take us around in golf carts to find a nice peaceful villa with a view , which we duly did . The stay was perfect , the bar staff were fantastic , made my wife “ off menu “ Chocolate Martinis each evening when we went in for a night cap .. Ruth’s Chris is over the road .. another barman recommended the Fat Ox Italian a couple of blocks drive away , which was brilliant .. you’re spoilt for choice here .. The villa had a lounge area , outside sun patio , Separate bedroom and bathroom area. . Super level of space and very peaceful . Free parking which is unusual and very welcome in a premium property . Last time in Scottsdale we stayed at the Phoenician .. this time the Kimpton .. they’re quite similar amd we were knocked out with the price value of this Kimpton resort . Highly recommended!
