Satisfactory spot for the family at a good price

Liked:My family and I spent about a week here at the Springhill Suites San Diego Rancho Bernardo/Scripps Poway and had a pretty good time together. We were in town for a youth baseball tournament. The surrounding area was OK with a restaurant right next door and a couple more dining options nearby. Major freeway access was a few blocks away, so you can pretty much get on your way to wherever pretty quickly. I prefer a high unit, so I chose one facing out towards the front of the property. The kids will enjoy the pool, and the adults will enjoy the workout room. Plenty of parking, including the Chili's restaurant area next door. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. I slept one night on the sofa bed, and surprisingly, it was pretty comfortable with the right pillow setup. I don't have a lot of sofa bed sleeping experience, but this was about as comfortable as falling asleep on my own couch at home while binge-watching a Netflix series. The rooms were large enough for about 5 or 6 pre-teen boys to hang out and not be all over each other. Dummies had a NERF gun fight in the room while I was at the gym. For the most part, the property was quiet given the amount of kids staying there for the year-end tournament. Front desk staff could have been a touch quicker with the towel service, but it can be expected that service would be slower with all the families having soiled room towels and pool towels. Additionally, the room maintenance staff seemed, IMHO, pretty impersonal and uninterested in speaking with you. I often engage with the staff and leave a tip as a courtesy for good customer service. Not this time. I'd return for the price, though.

Avoid. Read the negative reviews before staying here and ruining your trip.

Liked:Really outdated hotel that seems to have grown organically for the last couple of decades. I am surprised no one has mentioned this - all rooms have this door between each other. There is absolutely no sound isolation. You can hear your neighbor sneeze! If you get kids in the adjacent room , you might as well go sleep in the car. There was mold in the tub. Water in the sink by the bathroom was cold. The plumbing gurgles and sounds like it might explode. This hotel needs to be bulldozed and rebuilt. Minor advantages - there’s a Chilis, a Bar and Grill and Wendy’s walking distance.

Excellent Hotel

Liked:After a long day of traveling I asked for extra pillows for my back and to elevate my chest for congestion / allergies . I also asked to replace feathered pillows because of asthma ; all requests were done timely and happily . I’m so impressed . Usually in a 4Star hotel I still have to follow up because I still would not get my requests ; at SpringHill the front desk even followed up to make sure my needs were met within the hour. I was apprehensive at first for staying at this hotel , but my budget dictated otherwise. I’ll be coming back again each month to visit parents in an assisted living facility, and this hotel is definitely my #1 choice . The breakfast is also excellent. My only complaint is that I couldn’t get my ‘to go’ bagels in the morning at 7am on the Saturday of my departure immediately when breakfast was supposed to open for guests. We had to wait 5 minutes after the designated opening time while my Uber waited outside . On the good side , front desk gave us a couple of zip locks for our bagels .

Mateo for the win!

Liked:Beyond the exceptional service from Mateo… From the moment I booked two weeks ago, to checking in today, Mateo was a tremendous asset, a wealth of local information. He was so accommodating with my request for a high floor, the room was spotless and chili, and spacious… Who could ask for more. I am so grateful to have the next two nights at a delightful property.. It’s a perfect location near San Diego.
