Don't Recommend - Strict Policies and Rude Staff

Liked:I recently visited Aruba and stayed at the Playa Linda Beach Resort, which is located directly next door to the Holiday Inn Resort Aruba. As a previous guest of the Holiday Inn Aruba in 2024, I enjoyed my stay so much that I recommended the resort to two families who chose to stay there during this trip. While visiting, my husband and I booked a couples massage at the Vivant Spa. After our treatment, we walked over to the pool area where our friends were relaxing. When I attempted to sit in an available poolside chair, I was immediately approached by a member of the security staff and told that because I did not have a registered guest wristband, I could not sit at the pool. While I understand restrictions regarding the use of pool facilities by non-guests, I found it unreasonable and unnecessary to prohibit someone from simply sitting with friends. More concerning was the manner in which the situation was handled. The security staff member was rude and dismissive. I subsequently spoke with a hotel manager, who acknowledged that outside guests are permitted to sit at the pool and indicated that he would mention the matter to the security team at their next meeting. However, no effort was made to address the issue immediately or rectify the situation during my visit. The following day, my husband was visiting the casino. After stepping outside for a cigarette break, he was stopped by security as he returned and was told that he was not permitted on the property because he was not a registered hotel guest. This was despite the fact that he had just been inside the casino. He was further informed that only hotel guests were allowed in the lobby areas. We found this policy and its enforcement to be excessive and confusing. It raises questions about whether hotel guests are permitted to invite friends or family to visit them at the resort, something that is generally allowed at most hotels. I wanted to bring these concerns to your attention because my recommendations led two families to choose the Holiday Inn Aruba for their vacation. Unfortunately, both families were disappointed by these experiences and have stated that they do not plan to return. As someone who previously had a very positive impression of the Holiday Inn Aruba, I am concerned about how restrictive the resort has become and the impact these policies, and their enforcement, may have on guest satisfaction. I had hoped this would continue to be a property I could confidently recommend to family and friends. Based on this experience, I am no longer certain that I can do so. Thank you for your time and consideration. I would appreciate any clarification regarding these policies and how situations such as these are expected to be handled in the future.
