My hotel of choice in Napoli for many years

Liked:The room are gorgeous and spacious and so is the rest of the building. Mine had a view on the harbour and castle. The staff are lovely and the complimentary box of sfogliatelle is such a nice touch! Terrace has a wonderful view on mount Vesuvio and its bar serves lovely cocktails and coffe

Liked:Good location in front of the harbour.

Disliked:Terrible value for money. We got 1 complimentary bottle of water for a 4 night stay and when we asked for more, we were told that we had to pay. No turn down service. Not very clean (carpet from the elevator to our room needed a vacuum and the dirt remained there the full 5 days we were there).

Horrible!

Liked:This does not seem like a four star hotel at all. The front desk staff are not hospitable at all. While checking in, the woman that was helping us actually stopped checking us in and went over to have a conversation with another person behind the desk. She only needed to hand us our keys but thought it was more important that she go have a conversation instead. When I was up in our room, I called down to the desk to ask a question, and no one answered the phone. After two or so calls, I left my room, took the elevator downstairs, and went to the front desk. The woman and another person at the front desk were just standing there talking. There was not a guest in sight in the whole lobby. I told her I just called and no one answered and she said very gruffly we are "very busy"! We had booked a boat trip to the islands and I asked the front desk if it was OK if I borrowed one towel as long as I brought it back to the hotel after we were finished. She got very agitated and stated that the hotel towels must stay in the hotel and are not to leave the property! We went looking around the hotel to buy towels but there was no where that sold towels. We were just in Sorrento and stayed at a lovely hotel and the experience there was quite different. We borrowed two hotel towels, they took our room number, and when we returned them, they were very appreciative we brought the towels back. Upon departure, we asked the front desk to call us a taxi to bring us to the airport. I told them I would like the "set taxi rate" to the airport and I wanted to pay by credit card. I also said it was preferred if the driver spoke English so we didn't have any problems. A cab was called by the hotel and they were arguing with one another and then they put our suitcases in the back of this beat up taxi van. The driver barely spoke any English and I tried to confirm we could pay by credit card. The van had no air conditioning except for the front for the driver and there was a divider set up so we actually had no air at all in the back and it was 90 degrees outside. When I tried to turn on the AC he said "broken". When I told him we were going to the airport and it was a "set rate" and I wanted to pay by credit card he got angry. He actually talked to another taxi driver at a stop light and wanted to pull his taxi over and transfer us and our luggage to the other taxi cab! I got upset and said he must take us to the airport. When we got there he told us that his credit card machine was broken and that I had to go into the airport to the bank to withdraw money and my daughter must stay with him! The whole situation was very unsettling. There were a few other bad things that happened at this hotel and I don't want to get into all of it, but all I can say is AVOID THIS HOTEL. The front desk staff are not hospitable at all and they treat you horribly. This is not the place you should spend your money and enjoy your holiday.
