Liked:Excellent spot on Playa Norte -- year after year I am so grateful to stay here. The team at the hotel is amazing, as is the the team on the beach. Chepo has been our server year after year and he's incredible. So attentive, fast and friendly. Great hotel, great location

Good enough

Liked:Nice hotel, but the photos of the beach are a bit deceptive because Playa Norte is a public beach and packed with people. There are also several beach clubs / restaurants around that start playing music at 8 am. We stayed 3 nights at the Ixchel. The hotel itself was very good: definitely not 5 star, but very comfortable. We upgraded to one of the larger rooms with a kitchen and sitting area so that we could get a balcony. The balcony was heaven! The room itself was spacious and clean with good storage space for our clothes, a comfortable bed, dual sinks, and a nice shower. But be aware that the two sides of the hotel straddle a road that ends at the beach, with a small pool on either side. The hotel has a bunch of lounge chairs on a marked off section of the beach, but the chairs are packed together like sardines and there is really no way to get away from other people. So, if you are looking for a quiet getaway, this is not the place, but it was very pleasant, and Isla Mujeres, with lots of good little restaurants, is fun for a few days, but I suspect we won't be going back.
