Liked:The staff very polite and helpful. The location was also good. Near to train station and buses. I liked the swimming pool, sauna and spa. All open till 22.00.

Disliked:We didn't get bathrobes and when I asked in reception I was told that no more left and the only what can offers is big towels. Car park per day 25€ plus deposit of 50€ for each day you stay. They give u back on the last day but u have to be prepared to pay much more for hotel then you thought. I the room very old. Under the bed We founded a sleeper so housekeeping didn't cleaned properly. It was the problem to open the window and from outside was extremely dirty. Room number 222 and 224

Not without its flaws, but nostalgic.

Liked:The Marriott in Heidelberg is an enigma. It feels like it has been plucked from an episode of the Sopranos. Authentic early 90's decor and vibe, including a complete absence of USB ports in any of the rooms I've been in. On one side, you get the view of the river. You must always ask for these rooms. The other side is a busy road, where the rooms get full sun. Again, authentically, the AC is sporadic at best, with the in room controls having no apparent influence on what comes out of the vents. You are about a mile from Heidelberg old town, a 20 minute walk, or easily doable in a cab. In summer the river walk is nice. Busy breakfast offers something for everyone, and its usually mobbed. Summer brings in coach loads of tourists, timing can be important. The staff are helpful and seem to know the limits of what they are dealing with. There is a gym of sorts, a few free weights and aging but operational machines. Some treadmills and also a small pool. You're not doing laps in this. Go for a run along the river. The underground car park will offer you the chance to scrape your hire car on entry and exit, with its high kerbs, and mid corner placed barrier. In winter just park outside if there are no coaches. Its always busy though. It has to be the pull of the Marriott rewards, as there are definitly better hotels in town. I actually quite like it. I keep expecting to See Tony or Christopher Soprano en route to a whacking.
