Has promise, but needs serious TLC

Liked:Convenient access to major roadways, quiet, spacious, and easy to check-in/check-out. Beds were comfortable and sheets were clean.

Disliked:Overall, the property shows signs of neglect. Walls, trim, and yard are dirty, with excessive scuffing, stains, etc. Numerous lights were non-functional due to dead bulbs and/or disconnected wiring in bathrooms, bedrooms, etc. Master bathroom "curtain" was broken in multiple sections and left partially dangling. Secondary bedroom closet door was partially broken and left swinging outside of the railing. There is a hole on the bathtub wall facing the shower in the master bathroom that looks as though it was poorly attempted to be fixed with caulk. There was quite a bit of dust on some surfaces and heavy dust and debris underneath the beds. Backyard was generally clean, but had refuse behind the furniture and large dog droppings in the yard. The downstairs toilet seat was nearly entirely unfixed, with 1 missing fastener and 1 nearly gone. Dishwasher leaks while running, and there was food debris on multiple utensils/dishes that needed to be washed. Cooking utensils were functional for our needs, but heavily worn/damaged. There's also what appeared to be a small hole in the ceiling over the upstairs landing, which was dry but had some swelling as though it could have been caused from water damage. The house had baking soda and air fresheners in many rooms, so it's unclear if this was to mask damage from water or to combat general humidity. Overall, the house has a lot of promise and value for renters looking for a good price and not as large of concern to be close to downtown Charleston (roughly 30min away), but it is in serious need of TLC by the property owner.

Extremely disappointing

Liked:The size of the home was adequate for myself, my Mother, grandson, daughter and my son joined us a few days later. The microwave was clean.

Disliked:Very, very dirty, inside and out. Dirty dishes in the dishwasher. WARM towels in the dryer upon arrival. Porch looked like it had never been clean. Fan filthy, dead bugs, outdoor area had junk laying everywhere. Screen door hanging from hinges and screen hanging. Handrail unsecure, toilet unsecure. Garbage cans full when I arrived. Grills with ashes and cigarette butts and marijuana butts. In general, a filthy place. It was embarrassing. Had I not just driven 15 hours with my 82 year old mother and 18 month old grandchild, I would have looked for somewhere else to stay. I would never invite my family into that home let alone strangers. The "property owners" were notified upon my arrival. They sent the cleaners back to clean the porch. I advised him it needs to be spring cleaned. He is from up North like me and knows exactly what I am talking about. It looks like it had never been cleaned. The cleaners spent 30 minutes hosing the porch (after which I used the beach towels to cover them so we could sit on them as simply hosing wasn't the answer,) folded towels, cleaned "snots" off the wall. They sent a repair man at 8 PM that Saturday night after he told me they were coming on Sunday to repair the door. The repairman asked me to hold his phone so he could see what he was doing for this man who "replied to a facebook ad that evening needing a repair man." They purchased the wrong size spline so he had to come back the next day anyway. Who sends a strange man to a property in the DARK? He was knocking on the window when we were sitting at the table talking. Only us girls, 3 of us with a baby. Not cool AT ALL. I paid nearly $3,000 for this home for a week. I was at the VERY LEAST expecting cleanliness. When I spoke to the host his response to the towels in the dryer was, "well, they didn't know when you were coming.
