Disliked:When we checked in, the air conditioner in the room smelled of mold. We asked to change rooms or have the air conditioner cleaned, but they only gave us a dehumidifier, which wasn’t appropriate for the situation. The buffet is only available for breakfast. For lunch and dinner, you have to go to other restaurants, order à la carte, and wait. None of the restaurants serve soup for either lunch or dinner. The only option is Mexican tomato soup via room service, which causes heartburn. Room service was also disappointing when they said we’d ordered too many items and decided on their own to reduce the number of dishes delivered to our room—that’s just ridiculous. If you’re traveling with a teenager, the only pool available is the one in the middle, which is always packed with kids and adults. You have to grab a lounge chair at 7 a.m., otherwise there won’t be any spots left by 10 a.m. I was unpleasantly surprised to find out that the gazebos with soft mattresses are not free and cost $290 a day; this wasn’t mentioned in the photos when choosing the hotel or in the description. Keep in mind that these gazebos around the pool come at an extra cost. We often encountered the waitstaff’s ignorance when ordering food; it felt like they were stingy with the food when you ordered, as they would ask, “Are you sure you’ll eat all of this? It’s a large portion, etc.” This is not 5-star quality. The walking area is very small and narrow—in fact, it’s practically nonexistent. The movie theater didn’t work a single time during our 8-day stay. The candy store was closed for renovations, as they said, or maybe it never even opened. All the waiters really expect tips, and when we sent our child to get a non-alcoholic cocktail, the waiters ignored him and served other people because they saw he didn’t have any tips with him—this was very upsetting for the child. They just kept saying, “Yeah, yeah, okay, wait a minute,” and he had to wait 20 minutes for his drink.
