Disappointing place — definitely not a 4-star experience

Liked:The hotel has one major advantage: the location is very central. It is within easy walking distance of the main square and the main pedestrian/touristic street. The staff were trying to be nice, but without English. To be fair, the room itself was clean, had all the necessary supplies, and the bed was comfortable. The TV had 66 channels, although all of them were in Chinese - not very helpful for a foreigner.

Disliked:Unfortunately, the immediate neighborhood is bad. The route from the main street to the hotel goes past a garbage sorting/collection point with a terrible smell and a public WC. It is not a pleasant or inviting approach to the hotel. The car can;t go there as the street is just for a bicycle. In my opinion, the hotel is definitely not 4-star quality — at most 3 stars, and arguably closer to 2. I was therefore quite surprised by its high rating on Booking.com. The biggest problem was my room. I had booked a Standard Double Room, but upon arrival I was given a room without any windows. This was not mentioned when I made the booking, and I would certainly not have chosen such a room had I known in advance. Even now this info is absent on the site. When I asked for another room, the hotel refused to change it immediately. They offered to move me the following day, but I was staying for only two nights and did not want to waste part of my short stay changing rooms. The internet was essentially unusable, and the Wi-Fi was another major disappointment. The reception staff were nice and kind, but unfortunately spoke no English, so we had to communicate using an online translator. They were polite and tried to help within their limitations. Breakfast - super basic and simple delivery to the room at a time of your choice. There was also an issue at checkout: I was told that I had been accidentally overcharged for an additional night. The hotel acknowledged the mistake and promised to refund the money. I am still waiting for the refund. And regarding Booking.com: I contacted their support during my stay and afterwards, but received no meaningful response. Unfortunately, this experience left me with the impression that you cannot rely on Booking.com support when something goes wrong. Despite the excellent central location and some positive aspects such as cleanliness, a comfortable bed and friendly staff, I would not recommend this hotel.
