Great Experience

Liked:Hotel is BEAUTIFUL! I was impressed with the beautiful lobby with many seats to sit and relax. I was equally impressed with the customer service received from Shy (spelling?). She greeted us with a nice smile and seemed genuinely happy that we were there. She answered all of our questions and gave us a thorough run down of the hotel amenities. She is great!!! The location was easy to find and a 5 min walk to the metro station. Loved that Trader Joe's was practically across the street! The beds were comfy!!! We went to breakfast in the hotel and came to the room to get right back that bed. It was calling us! Speaking of breakfast, which was complementary for us, the Foggy Bottom option was fabulous (other than the potatoes could have been cooked a little more, but they were still ok). The wait staff was very attentitive especially Sofian!

Disliked:The rooms could use a little TLC. The accommodations were nice and the room was pretty clean, but a little dated. I didnt mind because it added to the charm of the experience; however, I did think the carpets needed cleaning and the walls could use a washdown (esp in the bathroom). There was a handle missing from one of the drawers but we didnt use them so it was no bother to us. Overall though, it was a decent room!

Disliked:The air conditioning did not work. We visited during early spring and the weather had warmed up quickly. The rooms were stuffy and hot. So uncomfortable to sleep! We switched rooms and one of our 2 rooms was a little cooler because it was not in direct sunlight. For the 3 days we stayed the air conditioning never worked. It seemed like a whole building issue. The rooms were also a little worn out- furniture with stitching ripped out and dirty wallpaper in the bathroom.

Dillusions of Grandeur

Liked:Not a pleasant experience, billed as a 4 star, very far from a 4 star, they seem to think providing Molton Brown soap, shampoo etc is all that is needed. My room had a cracked basin, stained curtains and carpet, and a broken shower rail (which they fixed) there is no luxury here, would not give it much more than a 2 star, front looks all OK conscierge on the door, sometimes, staff on reception are very good, nothing is their fault, they do their best to help. And AC, don’t even go there, it is a one pipe system so they switch to cold AC in summer and warm AC in the winter, so you really have no control, the fancy controller on the wall does very little, all you can adjust is a fan speed, not much fun in a cold April, your only hope not to freeze is to turn it off.
