A hidden gem where we enjoyed our short stay.

Liked:Beautifully decorated and kept.

Disliked:The restaurant menu was quite limited for even for a 2 night stay. The wine selection was VERY limited. The service on the first evening was great with a gentleman server who was very attentive, spoke english very well for my family members and handled the billing of the meals separately to our rooms very quickly and efficiently. He even expressed how nice it was for him to serve us! The second evening it was raining so we didn’t want to venture out for dinner after returning from a day long excursion on the Douro so we went back to the hotel restaurant and the experience with a different server was the total opposite in service, quality of the food, handling of the separate bills and VERY slow with communication difficulties. Something as simple as ice for my drink with my dinner wasn’t possible “due to no ice” despite having seen people in the bar drinking when we entered through there to access the restaurant. This was totally unexpected due to the previous evening’s experience even in the quality of the food but the cost wasn’t much different much to our disappointment. Check out and paying for the additional charges to the rooms was presented without any opportunity to confirm what exactly we were paying for so it left a sense of doubt even though we felt it was possibly “incorrect” in our favor to which we definitely would have called attention to and paid more for exactly what we had consumed. The reception desk on arrival(with a line due to other guests with issues) and the restaurant on the second evening seemed understaffed for a full occupancy of the hotel. Breakfast on the second morning(our first experience at the hotel) had a lovely selection and plenty of staff for a very busy turnover of guests. We enjoyed our stay in general. I would recommend it to others.

Pleasant but misleading listing

Liked:Stunning hotel, nice rooms

Disliked:Staff checking us in told us spa was included, as did bookings.com, and then we were later told this is not correct, and spent over half an hour to try and sort it, and we were so tired. The stairs in the one room are just insane to try get suitcases up and nobody offered to assist. Could not get restaurant reservation and had to Uber to a restaurant.

A wonderful stay

Liked:The pool was great - there are day beds and sunbeds. Indoor (warm) and outdoor (cold) pools which is more than most places in Porto have to offer for swimming fans! We came back to our rooms on the first night to see a bottle of prosecco which was a lovely touch. My experience is that the hotel is really making an effort. I had a very minor complaint on the first day and they went out of their way to help me.

Disliked:I see in the reviews that some people are complaining about the location. Its 7 mins walk max to the metro which then takes you to the centre in 5 mins. Its 20-25 mins to walk depending on where youre going. 20 mins walk to Gaia quay. The upside to staying slightly outside the thick of it is the decent sized pool and spa. Lots of lovely local fruit and veg shops and pastry shops around the area!
