Liked:Excellent central location...Right next to Rialto bridge Frendly and helpful staff. Old world charm.
Disliked:Rooms very poorly insulated from sound. In the first room we were given, it seemed we could hear the sound of water rushing every time someone somewhere in the building opened a tap/flushed a toilet...as if it was in our room.. The next night staff kindly found us another room which was better from plumbing perspective, but we could hear neighbouring room baby crying and room above partying. So 2 sleepless nights out of 4. But perhaps that is inevitable in old buildings. By contrast, it was not noisy from street which was a pleasant surprise given central location. Breakfast : very little in the way of fresh produce [but good on cakes/pastries]

Liked:Great location. Mom with 3 kids under 12. Easy to get from train station walking with backpacks. Could walk anywhere, 10-15 min walk to St Marks square. Gondola station right outside hotel. Rialto bridge is right there. To get to vce airport, to get back to USA, we took the water bus. Leaves every 1/2 hour, right across the river, just cross over Rialto bridge. Very easy. So location was perfect, breakfast was fine.
Disliked:Didn't love the pillow, but it was what it was. We didn't talk to staff or anything. Wasn't that bad. Just didn't love them.

Nice to escape the busy tourist spots to this welcoming hotel.

Liked:Old world charm in a busy area but only a street or so away from more local activities and bars. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Room was large enough with good size bathroom - towels and sheets changed daily even though we didn't request it. Wall mounted fridge is small and is more tick that the room has one than function that can be used. Decor is a bit dated but in line with the old world charm of an old established hotel. It doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is a good genuine hotel. Breakfast was very good with hot and cold continental and variety of pastries as well. There is no lift and whilst lots of rooms are on 1st floor there are 3 floors at the back where the larger rooms are so lots of stairs. Be prepared for the step count! The rooms are very much decorated against an earlier age with quality materials and Venetian glass lamps and ours even had a balcony in line with a Romeo and Juliet scene! Rialto is right outside albeit the Vaporetto stops across the other side of the Grand Canal. The Airport Orange Line transport also stops there which is handy If you use Rialto Market stop just 5 mins away it's easier and you don't have to fight the hundreds of tourists posing for photos and can get the No 1 bus which can take you all the way to the Lido. You then see the local market in the morning also. All in all a good location and welcoming place to stay at a reasonable budget price.
Disliked:Noise travels - not sure what an old building can do about it and this more about guests respecting later quiet hours.
