Very disappointing hotel and breakfasts.

Liked:We stayed at the Kette two years ago and had a great experience. The room was beautiful and clean and the breakfasts were excellent. This visit we had three rooms for three nights. We were on the first floor and the rooms smelled horrible. The carpet was stained and there was mold in the wall. The smell was so bad we had to change room the next morning. The breakfasts were dismal. Few selections and very basic. Not what was presented on our first stay. The second day it was announced by the train company that a national train strike would occur on our last day that would have prevented a timely return to Zurich to catch a return flight. We had to cancel the last night. Given these events out of our control and the condition of our room the first night, we would have thought the hotel would given consideration to not charging us for the last nights canceled stay ($1,000). But we received no such consideration, and no credit was given, and we were charged the full amount. The staff was pleasant but the hotel facilities seemed run down, not the four star it advertised itself as being. On our first stay we loved this hotel. The second stay was very disappointing. We cannot recommend this hotel.
