Nice hotel but with major renovation going one

Liked:The hotel has a lovely old-world charm and an excellent location. In fact, the location could not be any better. The room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. Without the renovation work, I would have given this hotel an almost perfect score of 10/10.
Disliked:There was major renovation work taking place every day from 10:00 to 18:00. We were only informed about this at check-in. The noise was extremely loud, making it impossible to stay in the room during those hours. At check-in, we were told that all guests had been given upgraded rooms. However, I would have preferred a room where I could actually rest and take a nap after a long flight from Europe. I think it is unfair that such significant renovation work was not clearly communicated when making the reservation. In addition, we had a simple Twinings English Tea and a Coke in the lobby bar, and the total cost was around €25. Considering that this is a four-star hotel and that guests are experiencing major renovation-related disruption, I found the pricing unreasonably high.

Classy environment and great staff in a premium location.

Liked:The building itself is well kept and doesn't feel aged at all. The common areas are pleasant and great to hang out. We've even been to their sky bar and loved the views from the 33rd floor (even if the cocktails were nothing special). The room was spacious, had comfortable pillows and was very clean. The hotel is serious about cleaning, so much so that, if they can't clean the room for some reason, they will phone you and try to schedule an extra time for that. The bathroom had a japanese bidet with warm seat, and the bathtub had a great size and water pressure (it fills up really quickly!). The common areas also had japanese bidets. The staff is always there for you: to help you carry heavy items or with any wishes (eg we borrowed a corkscrew from them). They also didn't expect tips or wouldn't even accept them. Their english is overall great and not a problem. But the best part was at the end: since my flight back departed in the evening, I booked an extra night in order to be able to stay in the room beyond the checkout time and rest. I didn't mind at all paying extra if that meant not being tired before a long flight. But the staff was confused as to why I wanted to "waste" money with a night I wouldn't be able to use. After some back and forth, they understood my idea and said that I could've just paid for late-checkout – which I didn't know was possible. Because of the misunderstanding around the late checkout, they decided to reimburse me for the night I wasn't gonna stay and waived the late checkout fee. They didn't need to do it, I didn't mind paying extra, and yet they went beyond their way to offer me the best service. I swear I can't remember the last time I saw that level of customer service! I still can't believe how nice they were
Disliked:The hotel charged us a deposit fee of around 300 EUR during the check-in. The money was supposed to be used for services offered by the hotel (SPA, restaurants, bars, etc), and was later reimbursed after the check-out. Personally I don't mind the practice at all and even used a few services, since it was already paid for. But I would've appreciated a heads-up so that we know that the price we see during the booking is not the final price that will be paid in the hotel.

Very good value for money option if you want to stay at the FFC.

Liked:Very good location in FFC. Room size was also good. Also very clean. Staff was helpful
Disliked:For late night cravings, not much options for in room dining. Also no nearby convenience store or late night resto
