Shockingly Rude and Unprofessional, Especially from a Marriott Hotel

Liked:I called 24 hours prior to our stay to let them know I needed to cancel one of our two reservations. Before I was able to finish my question of what the cancellation policy is, a cancellation fee was processed. I said... if I am paying the same (or more) for the fee, then don't cancel it. I did not even get a chance to make a decision. It now gets really weird... really weird... McKenzie at the front desk gets really short with me and says "I'll see what I can do, no promises"... then hangs up on me. 10 minutes later, she sends me a cancellation email that BOTH rooms have been cancelled and I am banned from the property. (What just happened?) I called again and McKenzie was super rude and said this is what her manager said to do... I would really like to know what she said to her manager. I am going to see if the phone calls that were made, were recorded. She would not give me the "manager's number so I could speak directly to them. (She won't give out "private" numbers... I didn't want their "private" number, I wanted the business number.) So, now I am out the cancellation fee and our friends don't have a room. I tried for 90 minutes to connect with someone what would speak to me. I now have to wait for an email. This is the strangest thing I have encountered. Still a little caught off guard. By the way... I understand I may have been cancelling under the allowed time, but... I was not given a chance to keep it. The cancellation fee was more than the actual room charge... so why would anyone cancel it?
