Surprisingly large property

Liked:This is a spacious and well kept apartment on the edge of the Bastide in Carcassonne (with a tower directly opposite). The apartment was easily accessed with a wide staircase to the first floor. It offered all the things required for a stay and was very clean and tidy. Very comfortable bedroom and living area, a well equipped kitchen and a huge bathroom.
Disliked:Some of the decoration was looking tired (flaking ceiling and marked skirtings) The area is a little run down and less salubrious, with some 'shady- looking' people hanging around nearby buildings, but this block seemed OK.

Disliked:I didn't realise I had to put down a £250 deposit until I reached the property, My bank refused to allow the transaction and after following this up I was told by my bank that this was a probable scam and to keep an eye on my withdrawals for the next few weeks, as for the property, I couldn't find so can not comment on its state, over all it was not a good experience, I ended up camping. I have been using booking.com for many years, sadly I have now lost confidence in it.
