Dissappointed in Hotel Santa Fe

Liked:My wife and I decided to get out of town for the weekend, and decided on Santa Fe to spurge for a 3-day weekend getaway. We had a few things we were looking for, including a pool, hot tub, on-site full-service restaurant, room service, bar and spa (resort type amenities). While researching several hotels in and around Santa Fe, we found Hotel Santa Fe, and it seemed like a perfect fit, with a good location. We book a 3-night stay, and a few days later was contacted about “upgrading” our room. Since this was a special weekend, I thought, “why not’, and paid for the room upgrade. Imagine our surprise while checking in that due to a fire 6 weeks ago+ (not mentioned on their web page) that the hot tub was not open, the pool was un-heated (no gas due to the fire), the restaurant, bar and lobby were closed due to the fire, and there was no room service. I think my wife and I were so stunned, and caught off guard, that we went ahead and checked in. If we would have known about the lack of amenities in advance, we would have cancelled and booked elsewhere. This news should have been mentioned on the web page or conveyed to us earlier upon booking. I find it disingenuous that they could certainly reach out for a room upgrade, but not mention anything about all the advertised amenities not being available. Upon arriving to our room, we unpacked and went out to find a spot for dinner since we had planned eating on-site. Upon returning to the room, we noticed a musty smell we had not noticed earlier. Knowing it had been raining we did not think much about it, but my wife noticed a large wet area on the carpet by the couch (and assumed it was due to housekeeping). Around 10:15 we were startled to see 2 large areas on the ceiling rapidly dripping water over the couch. Enough that we had to place trash cans under both areas because of the quantity of water. We were both so tired after traveling all day, that I told my wife I would handle in the morning. Reporting this to the front desk, I was asked what I wanted to do…...how about a different room that’s not leaking? While we did receive an apology, and a new room, I expected to be reached out to by management or possibly the butler (who we never met or heard from) because of the inconvenience of repacking and moving rooms. A failure in customer service in my mind. The complimentary shuttle service around the immediate area, continental breakfast, and most staff members were positive highlights of the trip. And our second room didn’t leak. In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed Santa Fe and the location of Hotel Santa Fe, but I’d suggest not booking or staying here until you confirm that the repairs have been completed to ensure the reality of your stay matches the unfulfilled promises of their inaccurate web page. The resort level price paid per night was not in-line for the almost absent amenities that was not made known until arrival. We will not be back, but wish them well on their efforts to restore what could be a great hotel…..it’s just not even close right now.

A Wonderful return to The Hotel Santa Fe & Hacienda!

Liked:A Wonderful return to The Hotel Santa Fe & Hacienda! It was very unfortunate that Hotel Santa Fe experienced a fire in the main hotel building a couple of months ago. Thankfully, The Hacienda was not affected and remains open and available for guests while renovations to the hotel are underway, with completion expected in November 2026. My connection to this wonderful property goes all the way back to 1991, the year Hotel Santa Fe opened. I stayed there for a girls’ weekend, and we had the best time ever! At that time, The Hacienda was part of the hotel rather than the separate, more private experience it is today. Returning after all these years brought back some wonderful memories—and I was delighted to find that the special level of hospitality I remembered is still very much alive. The Hacienda continues to offer its exceptional butler service, as well as complimentary chauffeur/shuttle service to destinations within approximately a mile of the hotel. That service made it so easy for us to enjoy Santa Fe without worrying about driving or parking. Our stay also included a lovely continental breakfast each morning and a wonderful happy hour with hors d’oeuvres, wine, and beer. And then there are those little touches that make a stay memorable—Lindt chocolates in the evening and even hot chocolate. But what truly makes The Hacienda special is the staff. They are superb! Their warmth, attentiveness, knowledge of Santa Fe, and genuine desire to make your stay enjoyable really set this property apart. After first visiting in 1991, it was wonderful to return and discover that The Hacienda still offers the personal service and hospitality that made such an impression on me all those years ago. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already looking forward to returning in 2027!

Lovely hotel

Liked:We chose Hotel Santa Fe as it is close to the Santa Fe Plaza where the Spanish Market was being held. The room was spacious; breakfast was on the 6th level - basic items such as oatmeal, pastry, bagels. We greatly appreciated having a van that would take us to the Plaza (not a far walk) and then take us back later given that one of us needed assistance. My only complaint is that the hotel was having some construction - would have liked them to notify us when we made the reservation.

Great place to stay in Santa Fe

Liked:We loved our stay here and were happy to support this Indigenous owned and managed hotel. We stayed in the Hacienda which was lovely. The Service was great. Good continental breakfast, but lovely happy hour and delicious cookies in the room. The staff was terrific. We also loved being 15 minutes from the Square in an area that was new to us. The free shuttle to all downtown sites was a great bonus.
