Some hotel staff were very rude and the hotel itself was not working properly.

Liked:It was in San Clemente.

Disliked:We were there over a week and they only cleaned once. We checked in with our dog but were not given the door tag to indicate to the cleaning staff. I had to ask for towels, wash cloths, and soap a couple of days into the stay. It was then I was told they will not clean our room unless we tell the desk we will be leaving. I told the woman at the desk the next day that we were leaving and would be gone for hours. When we returned our room had still not been cleaned. When I inquired at the desk and asked for more supplies I was rudely told they have many rooms to clean. I witnessed the same hotel worker being rude to another guest when she asked if she could check in early. The tv in the sitting area didn’t work. One morning the hotel was surrounded by cops, K-9 officers and a helicopter. When asked if it was ok to return to our room we were told they were just looking for a hotel guest. The elevator was broken for over two days. All guests had to take the stairs. The fire alarm also went off. Definitely was not worth the cost they charged me!

Great stay ruined by post-checkout lost property issue and zero response

Liked:Our stay at the Hampton Inn San Clemente started out excellent. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and the front desk staff were very friendly. Unfortunately, what happened after checkout completely ruined our experience. My special-needs daughter accidentally tucked my Apple AirPods under a pillow in our room, and in our rush to check out, we left them behind. Once we realized it, I contacted the hotel multiple times via phone and email. I spoke directly with a team member and shared screenshots from Apple’s "Find My" app. The tracking clearly shows the AirPods were removed from the room and taken to a private residential address rather than being turned into the hotel’s lost and found. Despite providing clear location evidence and reaching out repeatedly, I have received zero follow-up or response from management. While the stay itself was lovely, the complete lack of communication and apparent mishandling of guest property are deeply concerning. I hope hotel leadership investigates this matter seriously and improves how they handle guest property and communication.
