Beautiful property undermined by poor handling of a loud evening event. Also hotel room chair smelled terrible

Liked:I had genuinely looked forward to writing a glowing review of the Arizona Biltmore. The food at the restaurants was excellent, the facilities are beautiful and well maintained, and the gift shop is one of the most thoughtfully curated I've come across at any resort. On paper, this is a wonderful property - and as a longtime Hilton Honors member, I've stayed at a lot of them. Unfortunately, one night of my stay was completely derailed, and the way it was handled is what I'll remember most. I was staying with my infant. That evening, a corporate event with amplified music was held on the grounds, and the sound carried directly into my room - loud enough that there was no way my baby (or I) could sleep. I called the operator, who told me the music would end at 9pm. I also messaged the text concierge, who confirmed the 9pm end time and noted I was the only guest who had complained. At 9pm, the music was still going. When I followed up, I was now told it would continue until 9:30pm. I brought my wide awake baby downstairs around 9:10pm to speak with someone. The event manager, Jeff, confirmed the 9:30pm end time and essentially told me that by the time I got back to my room, it would be over - framing it as my problem to wait out. I asked to either have the music stopped or to be moved rooms. I was told the only available rooms were in the villa, far from the main resort - not a realistic option late at night with an infant. I was also informed that "hotel quiet hours are at 10pm" as if that resolved it. What bothered me most was not the event itself — these things happen — but the posture of the staff. The communication was contradictory, no workable accommodation was offered, and I was made to feel like I was the problem for raising it. It gave me the strong impression that this is a known pattern: the resort books loud events that impact in-house guests, and handles the occasional complaint after the fact. If you're traveling with young children or anyone who needs a quiet evening, I would strongly recommend asking specifically whether any outdoor events are scheduled during your stay - and confirming where your room is located in relation to them - before you book. For a luxury property, I expected the handling of this to be significantly better. Also the hotel room chair next to the bed smelled like bellybutton mixed with underarms - it was terrible.

Liked:Fantastic hotel and amenities. Best hotel gym I’ve ever seen. Lots of sun at the pool with umbrellas as needed for shading. Water slides were fun for the kids. Loved the architecture.
