Every hotel on this list operates in New York City, offers EV charging access, and holds a verified sustainability credential backed by third-party certification or published measurable metrics. Selection required documented evidence — corporate mission statements and unverified brand pledges did not qualify. EV charging is either on the hotel property or at a confirmed third-party garage within walking distance.
How we selected these hotels
Each hotel on this page passed a two-stage check. First, we confirmed the property holds either a named third-party certification (LEED, Green Key, EarthCheck, Green Globe, GSTC, or Energy Star) or a published sustainability report with specific numeric results. Second, we confirmed EV charging availability, either directly on the hotel property or at a named third-party garage within walking distance.
Tier 1 properties came first in the ranking. Within Tier 1, LEED Platinum outranks LEED Gold, which outranks LEED Silver, and so on down through Green Key and Energy Star. Where two hotels share the same certification level, the higher star rating wins. Alphabetical order breaks any remaining ties.
Tier 2 properties appear only after all qualifying Tier 1 hotels. Within Tier 2, properties with published numeric reduction targets rank above those with only qualitative reporting.

Tips for EV drivers booking in NYC
- Call the hotel directly before arrival to confirm charger availability and connector type — Level 2 (J1772) and DC fast chargers are not interchangeable for all vehicles.
- If charging is at a third-party garage, ask the hotel concierge to reserve a charging bay in advance, especially during peak seasons.
- Manhattan parking garages charge separately for EV charging time on top of standard parking rates — budget for both.
- PlugShare and ChargePoint apps show real-time charger availability at garages near your hotel if the hotel's own chargers are occupied.
EV charging in NYC hotels: what to expect
New York City hotels face real constraints on on-property EV charging. Most Midtown Manhattan properties have no dedicated parking structure, so EV charging typically means a partnership with a nearby garage. That arrangement is common and workable, but it does require a short walk and a separate payment.
Properties in neighborhoods with more physical space, such as the Upper West Side near Central Park, are more likely to have on-property charging bays. When a hotel lists EV charging as an amenity without specifying the location, it is worth asking whether the charger is in the hotel's own garage or at a partner facility two blocks away. Both options appear on this page, and the evChargingLocation field for each hotel makes the distinction clear.

Tier 1 hotels hold a named third-party certification, such as LEED, Green Key, or Energy Star, that requires audited and verifiable performance data. Tier 2 hotels have published sustainability reports with specific measurable results, such as a documented percentage reduction in energy or water use, but do not currently hold a named third-party certification. Four of the five hotels on this page are Tier 1.
Yes. This page covers hotels that meet both criteria: verified sustainability credentials and confirmed EV charging access. Some properties hold strong certifications but lack confirmed EV charging, and others offer EV charging without verified sustainability credentials. We have a separate page for [eco-friendly luxury hotels](/hotels/eco-friendly-luxury-hotels) that covers certified properties regardless of EV charging status.
Certification status was verified against the USGBC project database and the EPA's Energy Star certified buildings database as of early 2026. Certifications can lapse or be upgraded, so checking the relevant database directly before booking is a good idea if the credential is a deciding factor for you.
On-property charging fees vary by hotel. [1 Hotel Central Park](/hotels/1-hotel-central-park) and [Kimpton Hotel Eventi](/hotels/kimpton-hotel-eventi) both include EV charging as a guest amenity, though fees can apply depending on your rate. At the third-party garages serving the Westin, Marriott Marquis, and Hilton Midtown, guests pay the garage's standard EV charging rate on top of any parking fee. Rates at Manhattan garages typically run between $0.30 and $0.50 per kWh for Level 2 charging.
