Hotels near Central Park New York: closest picks for 2026

Every hotel on this list sits within a 10-minute walk of Central Park, drawn from four different sides of the park so you get a real choice of neighborhood. Hotels were ranked by walking distance first, then star rating, then verified sustainability credentials. All five were confirmed operating under their current names and brands as of 2026.

How we chose these hotels near Central Park

Walking distance to the park boundary was the primary filter. Any hotel beyond 1 mile was cut. From the remaining pool, we required geographic spread — no more than two hotels from the same side of the park — so the list covers the Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Columbus Circle, and Midtown South approaches. We also required at least one mid-range option so the list works for travelers who aren't booking a suite. Every hotel was cross-checked for current operating status in 2026. Where a hotel had changed names or ownership, we noted it in the fact-check field.

Picking the right side of the park

  • Upper West Side hotels (Central Park West corridor) put you close to the American Museum of Natural History and the 72nd Street Strawberry Fields entrance.
  • Upper East Side hotels (Fifth Avenue / Madison Avenue corridor) give you direct access to Museum Mile and the 79th Street park entrance.
  • Columbus Circle hotels sit at the southwest corner of the park, one block from the 59th Street–Columbus Circle subway hub serving the A, C, B, D, and 1 trains.
  • Midtown South hotels along 59th Street are closest to the Wollman Rink and the Hallett Nature Sanctuary entrance at 60th Street.

Walking to Central Park from each neighborhood

From Columbus Circle, you cross one intersection at Broadway and 59th Street and you're at the park's southwest corner. From the Upper East Side along Fifth Avenue, the park wall runs directly alongside the sidewalk from 59th to 110th Street, so most hotels in that corridor are a 2-to-4-minute walk at most. The Upper West Side requires crossing Central Park West, a wide boulevard, but pedestrian crossings at 72nd, 79th, and 86th Streets are well-marked and take under a minute. If you're staying at a hotel on 59th Street south of the park, the main entrance at Grand Army Plaza puts you inside in under two minutes from most lobbies on that block.
