Serious Housekeeping Issue in Room 407 – Poor Follow-Up Response”

Liked:We recently stayed at the AC Hotel New Orleans French Quarter (Room 407). While most of the stay was fine, we encountered a serious issue at checkout that changed our overall impression. Before leaving, my wife moved the beds to make sure nothing had been left behind and discovered a significant accumulation of dirt, debris, and residue underneath. This was not a minor issue. The condition clearly indicated that the area had not been cleaned for a long time. We documented everything on video (including the checkout context) and reported it immediately to the front desk supervisor. What was more concerning was the follow-up. Management characterized moving the bed as “uncommon,” which suggests the issue would not have been discovered otherwise. Housekeeping standards should not depend on guest behavior. The resolution offered was limited to a partial refund for one night, with the burden placed on us to coordinate through Expedia, and no meaningful acknowledgment of the broader issue. We gave the hotel the opportunity to resolve this directly before posting publicly. This is not the level of cleanliness or response I would expect from a Marriott-branded property.
