Hotel ok - Nice staff but I would not book again

Liked:The hotel is about 15-20 min walk from the old port area, the staff are nice and the rooms are descent - cleaned every day. Breakfast is basic, not too much choice but ok, although not far from all main attractions I did not like the location, on the busy road and close to the 'homeless hub'. We were staying over the Grand Prix weekend so I believe it affected how much we've paid but I'd say it wasn't very good value for money. One last thing to mention is the aircon, not sure if it was old or broken but the noise overnight was unbearable!

Acceptable Marriott lodging within walking of Old Town Montreal.

Liked:This hotel is on par with most Fairfield Inns except that it is on the fringe of what is considered downtown. The neighborhood is OK, but not the best. There are some homeless people on the block nearby. It is only a 15 minute walk to the old town, but otherwise there are no nice restaurants nearby. There are some pubs within a 10 minute walk and the so-called Village neighborhood (a section popular with the LBGTQ community) and pedestrian street is nearby. The suite was large and the bathroom was nice. The Hotel parking garage costs more than off-site parking but it is not valet, and it is tricky to find. There is no sign on the garage door to access it. At first I wasn’t sure if it was the right place. I guess the hotel is OK and more reasonably priced than other higher level hotels, but you get what you pay for. There are other Marriotts downtown if you are looking for a slightly higher level of lodging.
