Liked:comfortable bed, well stocked kitchen, good towels, secure quiet block, dreamy terrace with lovely view, spotless clean

Disliked:just one very minor suggestion - oyster opening knife - to enjoy Gillardeau oysters sold at a local market:) Juste une toute petite suggestion : un couteau à huîtres, pour déguster les huîtres Gillardeau vendues sur le marché local:)

Little Gem in the French Riviera

Liked:Perfect location, close to all amenities (supermarkets, bars, cafe's and restaurants), only 200m to the beach and 600m from the station. The apartment is charming with a large balcony for al fresco dining. It was perfect

No one mentioned the building's giant size air conditioning unit located outside our bedroom window.

Liked:We stayed in No 14A. The apartment is spacious and well appointed, the terrace is wonderful, the hosts are friendly and helpful (they were away on holiday for our first week), and the location is superb: but no one mentioned the building's giant size air conditioning unit located outside our bedroom widow which had no off-switch.

Disliked:The giant size air conditioning unit which serves several appartments, is located on the terrace directly outside the bedroom window of our apartment which ran night and day with no on/off switch. The noise from the unit sounds like a bus; and to cap it all, the overflow air vent for the unit was located in the front room of the apartment above the dining table, which meant that there was cold air blowing day and night without the means to regulate the base load. Using the remote control, we could only regulate the other vents in our apartment (one of the unit's zones), which did't make much difference to the airflow even if we switched our apartment off. If you closed the shutters and the windows and you happen like air conditioning, there is no problem. We, on the other hand do not like air conditioning and would rather have open windows and fresh air - however the noise from the ac unit running was impossible to live with. In desperation, on the second day, we found the mains switch box and through a process of trial and error, discovered the isolation switch for the common air conditioning unit and switched it off, on the basis of asking for forgiveness rather than permission We were waiting for someone to say something ; but we didn't hear from anyone. (Apologies to tenants in the other apartments who may have been deprived of their air conditioning. The temperature in late August was around 27 C so it should not have been a major inconvenience). Anyway, the rest of our stay was excellent. It is a most perfect apartment in beautiful Menton (without the air conditioning unit).

Fantastic

Liked:We don’t normally write reviews for places we’ve been but this was exceptional. The apartment was perfect. Marcel met us and made us feel at home. There is everything you would need, a fully equipped kitchen but who wants to cook? Except that breakfast outside and wine at the of a day on the roomy terrace were an added bonus. There was a table, sun shade, two sun loungers, plants and a nice view. Two beach chairs and umbrella are also available. The area is very central, 5 mins walk to the promenade and sea, two minutes to the nearest supermarket. 5mins to the market. Would definitely totally absolutely recommend and we will be back.
