Amazing hotel and stunning views - private pool!

Liked:Where to start... stunning vacation. It's an amazing 22+ acre property with villas that all have their own food. Staff: They are all amazing, but some stand outs are Alvaro (Los Rocas). What a personality. Helpful, knowledgeable, and always has a smile and willing to help. Gabrial (Cello at breakfast) - has great stories and very friendly. Abusir (Los Rocas) - amazing chef at Los Rocas. Villas: Stunning views, comfy beds good pillows. Have bug sprays and bug plugs to help with the bugs (great thing to have). AC does struggle with all the windows. It's necessary to use the sunshades, but they are all automated so it's great. Restaurants: Cello and Saffron are both amazing. Los Rocas was best and has lots of seafood and the best ceviche. Suggestions for improvements: - Clarity on what is / is not included in breakfast. For the price point what is included is very sparse (no protein available unless you pay more) - Perhaps some local cuisine

Disliked:stayed at the Banyan Tree hotel from April 22 to April 26, 2026. On the first evening, we decided not to go out and instead have dinner in the garden of our villa, so we ordered food from the hotel. I chose the chicken fajita. However, the next morning I woke up with severe intestinal pain; in short, I suffered from food poisoning from the chicken I had consumed. Following this, I contacted Sol from the Guest Service team, who had only been communicating with us via WhatsApp throughout our stay. I explained my condition in detail and requested medical assistance. However, I was informed that a doctor could be arranged, but I would have to pay a fee of 2000–2500 MXN, and that I would also be responsible for the cost of any prescribed medication and any medical procedures. I was genuinely shocked by this response. Despite falling ill due to food consumed at your hotel, I was not provided with any support and was instead asked to pay. When I expressed my concern, I was told that “there was nothing they could do.” Due to this condition, I had to go to the bathroom approximately 8–10 times throughout the day and only began to recover by the evening. I would like to emphasize that this is not a small guesthouse, but an internationally recognized hotel. Therefore, this experience was extremely disappointing in terms of both hygiene standards and the approach to guest health. The following day, we went to La Capilla de la Paz to watch the sunset. However, when we asked the reception beforehand, no one informed us that the location closes after 6:00 PM. As a result, we went all the way there only to find it closed and were unfortunately left at the gate. On another day, we wanted to visit La Quebrada. When we asked at the reception, a staff member confidently told us that there were shows every hour. Based on this information, we traveled for an hour and arrived at 2:00 PM. However, we later found out that the actual show times were at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Unfortunate

Fantastic service, views, and experience

Liked:Adan, the Banyan Tree Team and the Chef were incredibly helpful, thoughtful and generous during our visit for a family dinner. The venue s spectacular and service is fabulous. Would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a unique experience.

Unpleasant

Liked:The place is beautiful but there’re raccoons that get in your villas and eat anything that you have there. We couldn’t enjoy our time outside the villa or the private pool because raccoons will be there every single day. I don’t feel the resort does much to prevent it.
