Worst Marriott Experience

Liked:This was the worst experience I have had with the FDA, Emily. Upon check-in to Room 145, I was immediately taken aback by the strong bad smell and the lack of cleanliness. Tony was very helpful in assisting us with moving to another room and was very apologetic about the situation, especially regarding Emily’s handling of the initial room. However, the second room was also not properly cleaned, as we noticed the next morning. Additionally, housekeeping knocked on our door at 8:50 am to check if we had already checked out. I called the front desk and spoke with Kate, who informed me that our check-out time was at 12 pm and that they should not have knocked on the door. This entire experience fell far short of the expectations set by Marriott’s promise and mission.

Liked:I stayed here for one night and was able to check in early. The room was nice but there was a problem with the AC and then the whole 2nd floor hallwau had no AC. The rooms have AC controlers but they do not work. I opted for the breakfast voucher and the hotel staff did not apply it as my welcome amenity. I have tried to get it resolved with the management and that fail through. The hotel needs a makeover and better training for the staff. The chef who brought me my food was a delight but the person who took my order was not professionaly dressed and just sat at the bar the whole time. I felt neglected.

Liked:Staff was great, friendly and helpful. They also offered me a beverage at checkin.

Disliked:There was no hand soap in my bathroom, and the water from tub spout continued running when the shower head was turned on, causing less pressure. I got in so late and was already undressed by the time I noticed the shower issue. I should have asked for a new room.

Very Rude Front Desk Associate

Liked:My finance and I went to an NFL pre season game this past Saturday at M&T Bank stadium, so he booked this room for the night due to the proximity. It was definitely dated as some of the reviews mentioned, but doable for a short stay. What made it much worse was we returned after 11pm on Saturday due to it being a later game starting at 7pm. When entering the lobby, I asked the person at the front desk if there was any water available. Earlier in the day, they had the mini bottled waters sitting out that I thought were for guests. Or maybe I’m simply used to the full sized bottles that Hilton properties provide complimentary. She looked flustered when she handed me the mini water. I asked her for another for my finance and she huffed and puffed as if I was asking for a meal or bottle of wine or something. After handing me the other water, she starting becoming verbally disrespectful, stating that the waters were only for….…. I didn’t hear the rest because I walked away before responding in a manner that would’ve helped her to understand the customer’s perspective. I wasn’t sure if these little bottles of water were exclusive for Marriott Bonvoy members, which we were and she would’ve known had she taken the time to find out. If they were not complimentary, we very well would’ve paid for them, but that conversation was not had either. Needless to say, I think I will stick with Hilton where they have the full sized bottled waters ready for us when we check in.
