Lovely hostel away from the crowds

Liked:Lovely hostel about 30 mins walk from beaches and supermarkets. Area seems very safe, key access to property, electric code to own room. Reception open 8 to 8, lovely, friendly staff, excellent English spoken. Very clean. Quiet times, 11pm to 9am. Payment by booking.com. Excellent wifi/internet/network throughout. Good kitchen, good food storage allocation options. 6 ring gas hob (oven not usable), large fridge/freezer, toaster, coffee maker, juicer/blender, plenty of good pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. Drinking water available. A good, varied breakfast between 8 and 10 am usually of cereal(s), nachos and accompaniments, fruit, tea, coffee . Small book swap, many table games. Plenty of shared areas to relax in. 2 lovely (soft) dogs to lick you to death. Hand clothes washing sink and sheltered outdoor washing lines. Good size room (but long and thin) with double bed, storage, bench seat at far end, ceiling fan and extra stand up fan (A/C extra). Plenty of powerpoints (not necessarily in the best places). Plenty of hooks. Quiet. Good hot water shower (hot water not always available).

Disliked:No visible signs of recycling (other than for organic waste). No work desk in room as advertised on booking.com. Cost of A/C a bit excessive at 250 pesos a day (nearly US$18 on their exchange rate), we realise they are expensive to run, but that much? Very hot! Not enough room for bedside units or lamps, but no main light switch by bed either. No bin (except in toilet). No door to toilet (a simple curtain separating the bathroom from the bedroom would suffice). Toilet cubicle too narrow to comfortably sit on. Not the best lighting in the room. No towel rail in bathroom.

Economical hostel in La Paz

Liked:Comfortable bed, good shower, sweet little room.

Disliked:The walls are thin so if you’re sensitive sleeper there will be a problem.

Hygiene and safety issues, lack of Cleanliness

Liked:Nothing good about this hostel, rude staff, rude the Tomboy that works there.

Disliked:My experience at this hostel was very negative. I was assigned a bed next to a person who had active tuberculosis, and even though they were aware of his condition, no action was taken and there was no concern shown for the health of other guests. The reception staff was unprofessional and unfriendly. On several occasions, they showed a bad attitude toward guests and behaved in a disrespectful manner. The location is far from everything, making transportation and access to services inconvenient. Breakfast seemed to consist of leftovers from previous days. The refrigerator was extremely dirty, as if it had not been cleaned in a long time. The kitchen was in very poor condition, with grease everywhere and cutting boards in unacceptable shape. Additionally, there was no room cleaning during my stay. The blankets appeared not to be washed between guests and were reused without proper hygiene. I would not recommend this place due to the lack of cleanliness, professionalism, and concern for guests’ health.

THE WORST HOSTEL IN LA PAZ

Liked:Nothing, this hostel has nothing positive all is negative

Disliked:The staff is extremely rude and disrespectful. They constantly make unpleasant faces at guests and create an uncomfortable atmosphere. The Tom boy one staff members treated me very badly and was openly hostile. The bathrooms had no toilet paper, no hand towels, and no soap. The entire place is dirty. During the days I stayed there, they only changed the bed sheets once and never cleaned the shared dorm room. The blankets used by previous guests were not washed before being given to new guests. That is completely unacceptable. The kitchen is absolutely filthy — covered in grease and dirt everywhere. The cutting boards are black and look like they have never been washed in their lives. The sponges are disgusting and clearly have not been replaced since the place opened. The refrigerator is also very dirty. Instead of working and maintaining basic hygiene standards, the staff seem more focused on bothering guests. This hostel is away from everything. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It lacks cleanliness, professionalism, and basic respect for guests.
