Would encourage hotel to improve their guests safety

Disliked:I had a very concerning experience during my stay that I feel the hotel should address. When I first arrived, I noticed that the manual lock on the room door had been removed and the lock above the handle is disabled, meaning there was no way to independently lock the door from inside the room, unlike in most hotels. This already made me somewhat uncomfortable, so I placed an umbrella against the door while I was in the room as an extra precaution so I could hear more clearly if someone entered. One morning at around 9:30am, whilst I was getting ready in the bathroom, I suddenly heard the door open and a staff member entered and walked into my room without knocking. They were surprised to see me there and spoke to me in Cantonese that the system had an issue as it said I had checked out, and left in a hurry as I was uncomfortable and shocked. I had Do Not Disturb turned on, and check-out was not until 12pm, so there was no reason to expect that the room was vacant. I understand that technical errors can happen, but there were multiple opportunities to prevent this situation: the room was occupied, Do Not Disturb was on, and the staff member did not knock or otherwise verify whether someone was inside before opening the door. When I checked out, I raised the incident with the concierge. They apologised and said they would investigate. However, they initially told me thag they called the staff and said the cleaner “wasn’t good at English and didn’t know what had happened,” which was particularly frustrating because I had actually spoken to the staff member in Cantonese during the incident (as I can speak both Cantonese and English). I clarified this, and the concierge then said they would look into it further. When I returned later that day to collect my luggage, I was not given any further explanation or offered any form of compensation or resolution.
