great little cabin

Liked:it was our first 2 nights in iceland - cabin was easy to find - it was clean and cosy - we have really enjoyed the stay - for 5 people ( 3 adults and 2 kids ) its a little small but thats not a issue - everything was there working - we cleaned after our stay - so the next guests will have same clean cabin - small suggestion - air vent in kitchen would do magic when cooking - windows got foggy - ofc we opened windows - but this would solve getting cold air in cabin.otherwise great stay - owner of cottage responds fast and is very helpful - only thing i would add is - locations of the bin area - gps coordinates - we got lost a bit - but eventualy found them.

A sad and neglected cabin in a beautiful setting

Liked:I liked the rural setting of the accommodation, and the lack of nearby neighbours. It was peaceful. It has so much potential but is very neglected.

Disliked:Things you are not told before the day of check in that you should have really been made aware of before you stay: 1. The people who stay before you clean the property for your stay. This meant that the property was not the cleanest when we arrived. 2. You have to bring your own towels as they are not provided. This wouldn't have been an issue if we were told in advance. I searched Q&A on booking.com before leaving the UK and it said that they should be included as it is standard. The check in messages on the day we arrived said they don't provide towels. 3. You have to make your own beds. Disposable bedding is provided and you have to make your beds for yourself. There are no waterproof mattress protectors meaning that the two sofas in the main building are heavily stained 🤢🤮 4. You have to take away all your rubbish with you and dispose of it in a petrol station in one of the local towns. 5. You have to clean the property before leaving and send pictures to the owners otherwise you get charged up to €122 euros extra as a cleaning fee. Review: This property has so much potential due to its beautiful rural location. The property consists of a main cabin which has two rooms (open plan living/dining/kitchen and separate room with sofa bed), a shower room, and a separate toilet. Then there is a separate bunk house building that has two single bed side bunk beds. However, it is tired and dated. The soft furnishings were all stained. We were happy to stay as the price was much better than anywhere near by. Unfortunately the toilet broke after the first use and the owner advised us to try and fix it ourselves by pouring hot water down it. This did not work and filled the house with a raw sewage smell. We ended up spending most of the first day out of the property so we had access to a working toilet. I contacted the owner again and they asked for us to buy a drain blocker from the supermarket and they would reimburse us.

Liked:An absolutely unforgettable experience. If you want to experience the true spirit of Iceland, this is the perfect place. The peaceful surroundings, breathtaking nature, and complete silence make it possible to fully appreciate Iceland's unique beauty. The cabin feels like a real home rather than a rental property. It is exceptionally well-equipped, and you can find almost everything you might need during your stay. Everything has been thoughtfully arranged and designed to make guests feel comfortable and relaxed. The location is fantastic for exploring South Iceland while still enjoying privacy and tranquility in the evenings. Waking up surrounded by nature was one of the highlights of our trip. A small reminder for future guests: make sure to bring your own bath towel, as it is not provided. We truly loved our stay and would gladly return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic Icelandic experience.
