Peaceful stay in wine country

Liked:Wonderfully quiet and comfortable stay, nice helpful friendly staff, great and fresh light breakfast, cookies and wine (incl ports and saki) in the evenings, guest wineries doing pourings in the late afternoon, walked to eat at Star, short drive to Jack London for a walk/hike, easy to get downtown Sonoma and all the wineries in the region.
Disliked:Pool and hot tub area could use an update, but the temps were good and they seemed lightly used by guests... at least for our stay. Three people in the jacuzzi would be crowded. But this is very minor to the overall experience.

Thank God for an empty room

Liked:This historic “home” hotel was just lovely. Nicely appointed. We checked into a lovely wine and cheese tasting. We were assigned room 3 and our friends were in room 2. The rooms were fantastic. Beautifully appointed. Both rooms had enormous tubs. I hated the low beds close to the ground in the Asian style with no box spring but the bed was comfy so it was fine. We got up the next morning and had a wonderful breakfast. The coffee was fantastic as was the omelette. We left around 9 am abs didn’t return until about 8:45 pm. We were greeted to a room FULL of ants. They were everywhere. In the bed, beside both night tables, in the bathroom, in our luggage. Mind you there are signs all over the property that say put food away in proper containers but we had no food with us. We brought one bottle of water and ironically they weren’t near that. We called the night emergency line and they moved us to room 4 - which was also lovely and ant free. I’m just glad they had an open room. Ironically room four has a nicer bed but the bathroom isn’t as stunning as room 2 and 3. We left the next morning before the desk officially opened but I’m so grateful the night help was able to get us set up in another room. It could have been so bad. Despite the ants I would stay again. It was a lovely property in a beautiful location
