Our stay with Hilton was very nice.

Liked:The buffet breakfast at Doc Bale's Grill was very good, the staff was wonderful. We chose to eat there every morning. The Hilton gave us a discount card which gave us $15 off each breakfast. Nice, clean, comfortable and reasonable. We really enjoyed eating at Don Rico's, and the Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse was phenomenal! We give it highest ratings as an extraordinary dining experience.
Disliked:We were disappointed that Doc Bale's Grill was not open in the evenings for dinner, McCoy's Rum Room was also closed. With the weather we did not expect the outside pool snack bar or beach bat to be open. The Atlantic Marketplace had a great selection of snacks and drinks and hot and cold coffee and tea drinks and breakfast pastries. The staff was great!

UNSAFE, UNCOMFORTABLE, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND THE WORST HOTEL STAY I EVER HAD!

Liked:NOTHING TO LIKE Upon arrival I asked for self-parking and was directed to a lot across the street. As I entered the lot, I found numerous groups of young men congregating in the lot. I wasn't 20 feet from my vehicle when I observed a group approach my vehicle and start looking in the windows! Out of fear of the car being broken into, I asked to switch to valet parking. Upon telling the person at the front desk of my observations, she was more concerned about her own car, saying it was parked in that lot and she radioed security. After checking in we found two of the four elevators out of service, and we had to wait upwards of 20-30 minutes for an available elevator each time we needed one. Once on our floor (6th), upon exiting the elevator we were hit with the overwhelming stench of fresh and burning marijuana with an obvious masking deodorizer trying to hide the stink. We called the front desk about this, and we were told that Security was trying to locate the source of the odor, but we never saw any security in the building or on our floor. Once we were settled in the room, we went out towards the beach. There, we found numerous people openly smoking marijuana in plain sight. As a 30+ year retired law enforcement officer, I watched numerous hand-to-hand drug deals being made, I watched numerous what appeared to be verbal and physical domestic disputes, a lot of pushing and shoving, and general chaos on the Hotel grass and walkways, lawn, the boardwalk, and the beach. All the while, there were no security personnel anywhere to be seen. Back in our room, my wife went to take a shower. When she went to turn on the shower the shower valve handle fell off into her hand. Later, we went back out towards the beach and found large crowds on the hotel grounds, the boardwalk, and the beach. There was trash everywhere, loud music, and as we walked on the boardwalk and beach we had numerous groups of men in their late teens or early (continued in next window)
Disliked:twenties walk directly at us in what can only be described as a threatening posture and force us to have change course or step aside to avoid any confrontation(s). The conditions in and around the hotel left us fearful for our safety and we arranged to go away from the hotel and beach for our safety. Unfortunately, we had to return and were faced with the same stench of marijuana, loud music, aggressive crowds, no sign of security, and a prominent feeling of being unsafe. Essentially, we stayed in our room unless we had to take our dog out, or arranged to leave the area, On Saturday night into Sunday, we were awakened by BLASTING rap music at 4:20 A.M. The music was so loud I thought it was from the room right beside us, but it turned out to be car stereos from cars on the street nearest the hotel pool. I have a video of me walking to the slider, opening the slider, and the volume level being like that of an arena style rock concert. I called the front desk and asked that the hotel call the police to address the issue, and I was met with a rude attitude. I was told that if I wanted to call the police I could, but the hotel representative to whom I was speaking to refused to call the police or alert security. Additionally, we had contacted the hotel regarding an early check in but never received a response. And we were told there was a surcharge for having our Labrador with us, but when we asked what it would be prior to check-in, we never received an answer. We were SHOCKED to learn it was a $100,00, non-refundable charge! I could see holding $100.00 in the event a pet damaged furniture, or caused some other type of damage, but just to have a dog in your room for 2 nights costing an additional $100.00 is outrageous! Overall, our experience at the Daytona Beach Hilton was horrible. I understand that some things are beyond the Hotel's control, but much of the issues we experienced were, in fact, within the hotels control and responsibilities.
